Not as bad as owning a weimaraner. My dog is ten years old but she is still a puppy. She sleeps on top of people, including guests, who lay down on the couch. Watch out or she will steal your blanket, and forget about trying to catch her running with your slipper. She love grunts when being petted; almost sounds like a cat purring. Goes crazy every time I come home. Worst pet ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Labs are the very best dogs. If you have kids the will give their life to protect them. They will protect your family at any cost. And the will stand and fight next to their alpha any time and every time. All the while being a mushy loving animal that loves to play and absolutely loves children. I had a Labrador named Ben. He was the best. He would wait for my boys to come home from school every day. When he saw the bus, I would open the door and he would run up to greet them, and escort them home. Somehow he always knew when the bus would be coming. If my boys were out in the yard playing and someone had come over he didn’t know, he would always be between the boys and the stranger. Not growling or aggressive. Just being an obstacle. He would always sleep at the top of the stairs, the only way to the bedrooms and guard everyone there. He was outstanding, and smart as a whip. I think he actually understood many verbal things, just like we do. He passed away 5 or 6 years ago. He was very old, lived a full life. He loved and was loved by all around him. When the time came all his family was there when he went. And there was not a dry eye in the place. I still miss him very much. And I think of him often….
