- You can tape known trouble spots prior to beginning your hike. If a spot feels warm, tape it. Also, sock liners worn inside your socks are great for preventing blisters.

- Better yet…put nylons on first then socks. Works wonders!
- But don’t put duct tape directly over blister, it could worsen the injury.
- Used used syringes to remove the fluid, cotton to soak out the final moisture, then injected Tinc Benz to disinfect the wound. It’s also got an adhesive nature so sticks the sides of the wound – Don’t forget this is what a blister really is. Then a covering of zinc oxide tape, pinched at the corners & the surplus trimmed off to fit the foot. (No folds like the tape in this picture) gives a perfect fit. Our Medic first used this on me in Nijmegen Marches 1987 (100 miles in 4 days) & have I’ve sworn by it ever since.
- Proper footwear and socks will prevent blisters too. But it’s smart to always have a backup just in case.
- Or, you could make sure your shoes fit before you hike…
- Also Blister-o-ban or similar products work well as a preemptive measure.
