1 Spot Now Open On The Wilderness Guide Training Semester This Spring (2020)
We had a recent cancellation for this spring’s Wilderness Guide Training Semester, resulting in an open spot now being available. If you’re interested, get in touch with us. The course starts in 8 weeks.
We’ll be starting on snowshoes, canoeing 300 miles of northern Maine rivers, living on the trail, becoming an expert with an axe and knife, learning to cast a fly, forage for wild foods, and much more.
Late cancellations are not uncommon in this business, as life sometimes gets in the way of carefully crafted plans. The reason for this specific cancellation is unique, which is why I’m writing about it. The person who had to cancel is a medical doctor in an Asian country (not China). With the Coronavirus expanding out of China, he was no longer able to take a leave of absence from the hospital where he works. It’s a sort of “all hands on deck” situation, where they want everyone ready for what happens next. Also, there was some doubt as to whether he’d be able to enter the USA in early April to attend the course.
Usually life in the woods of northern Maine keeps us pretty removed from the news of the world. This is the first time in a while where we’re directly impacted by it.
