According to information gathered by the University of Michigan which has a gauge of consumer sentiment, the confidence that Americans have in the market has fallen to an standing October reading of 71.4.

Households across the country can do less with their money than they could two years ago and they are concerned that we are just at the beginning stage of a larger crisis about to strike us checking accounts and household wealth warns one investment brokerage. 

Consumers do not know what is making their lives harder. Is it inflation as the cost of everything goes up in the world around them, is it a deflation of currency value as the buying power of the united states dollar fails to pace current market changes, is it stagflation where we have a combination of events happening that alters the person’s ability to save and purchase. They do not know. What they do know, is that they have less money today than they have for decades in many cases. The only thing worth more to them is their housing market value and that is a bubble that they know is set to pop – when it does, their entire world as far as equitable property and ability, will go down the drains with it.

Economists are warning that in order to avoid a full blown economic catastrophe, organizations will have to start absorbing or soaking wage increases without raising prices. Anything less than corporations accepting fewer profits will cause a continuation of this financial crisis that is exacerbated by a full blown economic event warns one investor – if companies do not begin to hone up to the fact that they are complicit or even causative in the current state of the American economy, we will never find a form of recovery that does anything to help the consumers – corporate profits are up. Government backed economic figures are up. But it is the consumer accounts that are feeling the pain.
