So many good points! We ae still doing all we can on our shy 1/3 acre lot in a neighborhood even though we have acquired a couple other pieces of land we will either expand our garden area to or move onto. Just taking one step at a time as we find what is going to be best for us as things continue to unfold but in the meantime, still growing more and more on our original small area. There is a LOT you can do in containers for those who cannot work up some a chunk of dirt: tomatoes, smaller carrots, lettuces, strawberries, herbs and more. For those who have areas to grow but soil is not perfect, there are many perirenal herbs that will grow in just about anything and they can provide a source for medicine or to flavor bland foods (think thyme, oregano, sage, et cetera).
