I’m already laying in early crops for my garden (I’m in zone 8 and certain stuff can get started before last frost). My pantry stores are on a maintenance cycle at this point (as I use stuff, I replace it), so my food stores are sitting good (3-year supply). I am concentrating on plugging holes in my manually-operated tools and equipment, including hand-laundering tools (washboards, roller-wringer, etc.). Another focus for me is skill-building and fitness.

Many people who are diagnosed with depression, are also found to be realists with a very un-blinkered view of the world. It’s as if awareness of what is really happening is too difficult for our minds to take. I take the medication and go to the therapy sessions because I need to do all I can to try and stay alive for my husband’s sake. No use prepping if I off myself and take my years worth of knowledge with me. I spoke with a therapist once about how I feel knowing this is coming and that each day is the last day we have it that good, because each day we see the world become worse. He didn’t try to soothe me and say it was irrational. He agreed. He saw in his patients a sense of clarity that “healthy” minded people don’t have, as they aren’t aware; glued to social media and reality tv that is anything but real.
