Welcome to DAY 25 of our 15 Minute Prepping Projects series. Today we’re going to work on printing out recipes so we can have them accessible in a powerless emergency. Bonus points if you try a new recipe today too.

Every day for the month of September we will celebrate National Preparedness Month by undertaking a small task to help us get more prepared. Do as few or as many days as you want. Jump in at any time. Do them out of order, or more than one in a day. And feel free to share what you are doing!

Click here and scroll to the bottom of the post to view all the past days’ projects.

Do you have all of your recipes in cookbooks or recipe cards or do you rely heavily on Pinterest, recipe apps, google searches, and your favorite recipes websites for recipes? Today I want you to think about your go-to recipes and also any food storage recipes that you access only via a computer, phone, or iPad. Print them out so you can have them on hand should you not be able to access electronics in an emergency.

Create a Recipe Binder

I created a recipe binder system that works great for me. I like to type them up in a uniform way, print them out color-coded by recipe type, and put in one of several binders. I keep one for main courses, one for sides and desserts, and one for my food storage specific recipes. This is also very nice to have when you want to pass on your recipes to someone else, just send them a digital file instead of copying recipe cards by hand.

Print Out Recipes

Here are a few resources I’ve put together that can be a starting point for good shelf stable / emergency recipes that use your basic food storage foods and/or freeze dried foods. You can print these as is or use them as the basis to type up your own versions in whatever template you create for yourself.

Shelf Stable Recipe Book: Over 200 recipes using only pantry ingredients, compiled by Food Storage Made Easy readers.

Thrive Life Favorite Recipes: 26 favorite recipes using freeze-dried foods

Food Storage Made Easy Recipe Index: All the recipes from the blog, you can print them individually, copy and paste them to format them better, or put them into your own recipe template for printing.

After you’ve printed out some recipes, take a few minutes and MAKE a new recipe today!

Share Your Results

Take a picture of your printed recipe solutions and share it! Here are some ways you can share:

Instagram: Use #15minuteprep and tag @jodi_foodstoragemadeeasy on any post or story you do featuring your project. You can follow the hashtag to see everyone’s projects and if you tag me I will repost in my stories throughout the day (if your account is public).

Facebook: Comment on the PINNED posts in my Facebook Group (If you are not a member yet I will try to get you added within 24 hours so you can play along). The most recent day should show up at the top and you can scroll to the right to see past days. I will try to share some of these to Facebook stories as well (no names will be used, don’t worry!)

Text me: If you are not already signed up to get the daily challenges via text just text 15minuteprep to 717-788-3663. You can always reply to the daily text with your “report” so I can check in on you.
