Republicans enter the ring clutching razor-thin margins: roughly 222 to 213 in the House, and 53 to 47 in the Senate. A minor net swing hands the Speaker’s gavel to the Democrats. Right now, late September generic ballot polling places Democrats ahead by 7 to 8 points. Trump’s approval sits pinned in the high 30s.

And in twenty-four months, he executed one of the most astonishing domestic and geopolitical turnarounds in modern statecraft:

• He ended catch-and-release, fortified the southern border, drove illegal crossings down by over 99%, and restored territorial integrity.

• He signed the landmark One Big Beautiful Bill, making permanent the cornerstone 2017 tax cuts while eliminating federal taxes on tips and overtime.

• He systematically dismantled bureaucratic bloat, slashing federal headcount and ending the remote-work holiday for the administrative state.

• Data recorded the steepest decline in violent crime in over a century—murder down 18%, violent offenses down nearly 10%.

• He secured trillions of dollars in hard capital commitments to re-shore advanced semiconductors, heavy manufacturing, and industrial automation onto American soil.

• He ended the regulatory war on domestic energy, unlocked LNG terminals, approved strategic infrastructure, and secured historical energy assets abroad—from Greenland to the hemispheric reserves of Venezuela.

Yet all of that truly pales in comparison to the single greatest existential service rendered to the Western world: he took the nuclear threat of the Iranian regime off the global table.

For decades, polite foreign-policy establishments in Washington and Brussels wrung their hands, offered pallets of cash, and kicked the can down the road while Tehran enriched uranium, funded the Houthis, armed Hezbollah, and prepared the ultimate blackmail of the civilized world.

Trump didn’t blink. He called the bluff. He deployed force, established a blockade, secured the Strait of Hormuz, and severed the head of the snake.

He neutralized a looming nuclear catastrophe that would have held global trade hostage for generations.

The price? A temporary dislocation in the oil markets. A squeeze in global transport. Elevated retail prices at the local pump while global supply chains realign, domestic refining capacity absorbs new crude blends, and the world digests the death of the PetroDollar.

It is the classic definition of a short-term operational sacrifice in exchange for long-term civilizational survival.

If the voters who handed Trump an undisputed mandate in 2024 stay home because the mortgage rate on their next vacation home is inconvenient, they will prove the cynics right: that modern democracies are too soft, too myopic, and too consumer-obsessed to stomach the cost of victory.

Gas prices are temporary. Supply chains heal. Refineries adapt. New pipelines flow. Greatness, once forfeited at the altar of petty comfort, rarely comes back.

On November 3rd, the American voter isn’t just picking a representative.

They are choosing whether the United States is an empire capable of enduring the cost of its own defense—or merely a shopping mall looking for a discount.
