Egypt: Pay Attention, this Matters

While Americans are primarily focused on Healthcare repeal and job creation, a “distraction” in Egypt is failing to generate the conversation it requires.   Simply put, main-stream media (exception FOX) are down playing the biggest Middle East Crisis “the West” has faced since the 1970’s.

Those in the White House sit idle as Egypt, Jordon and other countries fall to hostile anti-American and anti-Israel radical Jihadists.  Consider this the sequel to what happened under the Carter administration in Iran just a few of decades ago.  We cannot sit back and continue to watch the insurrection of Islamic radicals taking over the interest of American allies one-by-one.   We continue to fuel the ego of these radicals, because American leaders are showing an extreme lack of strength and leadership; sending a message to the world that America is not to be respected.

Those that disagree with these writings will call it anti-Obama rhetoric or Islam-ophobia, but at the end of the day denying the facts will only make these radicals more dangerous.

We have seen mixed messages in the media.  One minute media claims Egyptian’s are fighting for democracy, the next you hear the Muslim Brotherhood (MBH) are fueling the protests, but support the Egyptian people in the fight for freedom.  Others say the MBH have little influence in the protests and politics of Egypt and there is nothing to fear by their way.

Here are the facts:  The MBH, is the world’s largest and oldest Islamic political group.  The founder was Hassan al-banna, a devout admire of Hitler and the Nazi Regime. With branches in seventy countries the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology is simple, the Quran is the law, jihad is their way, and dying for Allah is their highest hope.   MBH is spreading their ideology through primary education, universities, mosques and recently the internet.  Here in the US and Canada we have seen nearly 600 chapters of the MSA (Muslims Student Association) on university campuses promoting Islamic ideology among our impressionable youth. If you ask members of the MSA if they would denounce MBH or Hamas as terrorist groups they will not.  The MBH is anti-Zionist, Anti-West and Anti-Christian, with many ties to violent Islamic groups.  Defending or down playing the potential dangers of this group is irresponsible or perhaps just ignorant that their ideology is not consistent with our Constitution…..and they could care less.

So why does Egypt matter?  With 60% of the countries’ population under the age of thirty and mostly unemployed, Egypt is the perfect breeding ground for recruitment of their jihadists.  Egypt, with military capabilities provided by the US, is capable of destabilizing neighboring Israel and controlling the Suez Canal. If this canal is controlled by the likes of the MBH, it will create a threat to global trade, oil exports, and may ultimately lead to another regional war.  Further, embolden by victory in the Middle East, local radical jihadists will continue distorting our tolerant society until one day it is no longer recognizable-and that is their true ultimate goal – to use the laws of our land to create the land they desire.

Some will say the US should not back Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, but to do nothing and let the region fall into the hands of the MBH would be worse.
