Where is John Galt?

Atlas Shrugged has not made it to my local theater because many theater operators think the movie will be as slow and convoluted as the 1,200 page book. The movie trailer promises a fast passed thriller.

Ayn Rand wrote Atlas Shrugged, an epic 1,200 page book, that took forever to make her point about industrialists going on strike because government regulation and depicted a “mythical” world where socialism destroys the incentive entrepreneurs stay in business. You’ll have to work harder to locate a theater to view the film, because liberals will pan any film that challenges their world view.  Liberals in Hollywood and the media would never promote such a film. Liberals will hate this film because it depicts a destructive socialist Obama to a T.

If you don’t want to read Atlas Shrugged, here’s a link to the Spark Notes version.  The economic collapse depicted in the 1957 book seemed so unreal. The United States enjoyed a thriving economy of the 1960s, 80s, 90s, and even the decade following the millennium, that few saw a need for a movie.  (I left out the 1970s because these were the Jimmy Carter socialist years that gave us our first round of double digit unemployment and double digit inflation.)

The election of our Democrat Socialist congress in 2006 began the deterioration of the economy and the election of  Democrat Socialist President Obama was the Jimmy Carter years on steroids.

Atlas Shrugged became a best seller after Barack Hussein Obama took office in 2008. Two years of Socialist policy has given us unemployment and inflation. Wall street industrialists are the new hyper villains. Government paints small business men who earn more than $250,000 dollars a year as villains and who should pay more taxes. Massive government spending has many industrialists to slow down their companies, reduce production and lay off workers. Lower industrial production has reduced revenues and thrown the government deeper into debt.

Many of today’s industrialists have done a John Galt and abandoned this country to find better prospects making money around the world in such places as India and China than deal with hyper regulation and massive tax burden they face in America.   GE moved so much of their operations out of the country, they din’t even pay U.S. taxes this year.

Socialist Bernie Sanders (Senator, Vermont) makes the best case for why Atlas Shrugged is more relevant today that then day the book was written in 1957.
