MI4CS Update

This message is to update Tea Party members on the status of MI4CS.  The board recently had a passionately emotional debate and decided to consider changing it’s procedure.  Based on my communication with JL there appears to be misunderstanding about the existing procedure and therefore I am providing explanation.

MI4CS has an existing basic procedure called the “2 delegate system”, and is now considering a proposed ammended procedure called a “direct vote”.

The existing basic “2 delegate system” procedure requires participating Tea Party groups to conduct their own straw poll to determine the will of their own group regarding the senate candidate.  The group also nominates 2 delegates.  The delegates analyze their group’s poll, and represent the will of the group at the convention. The convention involves 3 or 4 rounds of senate candidate eliminations until a single candidate remains for endorsement.  Members are expected to support the endorsed candidate.

The proposed ”direct vote” requires participating Tea Party groups to conduct their own straw poll using ballots created by MI4CS.  Each Tea Party seals the ballots in an envelope.  The ballots are transferred to the convention by the Tea Party representative.  MI4CS counts each ballot from every participating tea party across the State.  The candidate who receives the most votes wins and is endorsed.  Participants are expected to support the endorsed candidate. 

MI4CS created a notice of the proposed ammended procedure and is sending it to as many tea parties as possible.  Due to time constraints we must recieve support immediately in order act.  Please consider the proposal and reply to Cindy at MI4CS immediately.  Do your members want to participate in a  direct vote with other tea parties???
