Non-partisan CBO: Higgins vote for massive tax increase threatens economy

Brian Higgins is determined to bring this economy down, why? Is it because these tax cuts are called the “Bush tax cuts” ?

New CBO Report: Expect a Deep Recession and Skyrocketing Unemployment

WASHINGTON — A recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report confirmed small business owners’ and workers’ worst fears – that unchecked, the fragile economy would plummet into a deep recession and unemployment would skyrocket.

Brian Higgins, a candidate for Congressional District 26 (CD-26), voted to push the economy off a cliff by voting for crushing tax hikes starting on January 1st. Higgins’ opponent Mike Madigan asks if this new CBO report is enough to convince him to stop his party’s job-crushing tax hikes on job creators and families.

The new report by the CBO said that this plan to impose tax hikes on job creators and businesses will force the economy to tank and the unemployment rate to spike:

“Tax increases and spending cuts from the ‘fiscal cliff’ would send the U.S. economy into a recession and drive the unemployment rate up to 9 percent by the end of 2013, according to fresh forecasts from the Congressional Budget Office.”

The CBO report goes on to say that by maintaining current levels, “Debt held by the public would climb to 90 percent of GDP by 2022. The country has not seen that scope of debt, says the CBO, since the time period just after World War II.”

However, Higgins is not listening because he believes this failed, reckless agenda has worked, and in fact, he has proposed a dramatic $1.2 Trillion increase in spending for 2013, above President Obama’s plan.

“This report proves that this job-destroying tax hike plan, along with Brian Higgins’ vote, is an economic disaster for New York small business owners and hardworking families,” said Madigan. “Is Higgins going to finally listen, act responsibly and stop the tax hike before his irresponsible agenda drives our economy into another recession?”
