Encinitas City Council - The "Dump Stocks" of 2014 will be "Dump Them All"

The Encinitas City Council last week voted 5-0 to pass a resolution supporting PROPOSED Federal legislation from U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein that would ban most weapons. This city resolution means nothing except the City wasted more time and our money debating whether to support a controversial and unconstitutional Federal bill that is not even close to being voted on in Senate and most definitely will not pass in the House. They should be talking about the terrible decision to blacktop the rough and crumbling 101. Now we have a rough and crumbling 101 that is colored black. How much money was wasted there?

Being an Encinitas resident, I am appalled the Council would aid the attempt to infringe on my constitutional rights to protect my life, my property and my loved ones. Police can not and will not ever be able to stop rouge crime, such as armed home robbery. Nor can a single-shot rifle. A homeowner with an AR-15 (Yes Barth, designed for killing people AND for sportsmanship, hunting, and home defense), a tactical shotgun or a pistol sure could.

A restrictive 10 round magazine is already enough of a liability. Criminals do not care if the law is 1 round or 10 rounds when they are breaking into homes. I do not want myself or my loved ones to be at any disadvantage, especially when our lives are at stake. With around 130 violent crimes in Encinitas alone last year, we should be worried. Will the Council take responsibility for all crime, injury and murder in the city of innocent and defenseless citizens? Since they support both giving the criminals a monopoly on force and making law abiding citizens sitting ducks, they should. That will immediately make the Council the biggest criminals in town.

Cities and States should be pushing back Federal overreach, not supporting it. The Council, especially Mayor Teresa Barth, showed their true colors- arrogance and ignorance. Any gun law most certainly infriges on the 2nd amendment. Also, the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with defending yourself, your property and your family from criminas, threats from abroad or a tyrannically government at home.

I now regret voting for Shaffer and Kranz.
