The Joke That Is Terry McAuliffe…Part 1: GreenTech and Green Energy

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Editor’s Note: We posted these educational pieces on McAuliffe back in May. A lot has happened with GreenTech since I wrote this including ongoing investigations and a picture perfect example of how the media covers up for their friends in the Democrat Party.  This article details the ongoing investigations about Terry’s dealing with GreenTech and the Richmond Times covering for Fast Terry.

In part, “Watchdog.org reported on the investigations by the SEC and the Department of Homeland Security, and uncovered a “promissory note” among GreenTech documents.

The promissory note, bearing the GreenTech logo, is problematic for the company, and then-Chairman McAuliffe, because it guarantees repayment to investors. That guarantee violates conditions of the EB-5 program that say investors’ money must be “at risk.”

Watchdog reporting also has revealed that, contrary to his more recent assertions, McAuliffe was intimately involved in managing the company he co-founded. Testifying before Congress,  Alejandro Mayorkas, director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, said McAuliffe repeatedly asked him to approve GTA’s visa applications.”

Of course the Richmond Times Dispatch has endorsed McAuliffe so now they are actively trying to kill these stories by supporting McAuliffe’s assertion that this story isn’t true. The Richmond Times Dispatch “fact check” on this issue is being called “ridiculous” and a “joke.” As if you needed anymore reason not to trust what is coming out of the main stream media/DNC propaganda machine…this is further evidence of why you need to steel yourself against the garbage flowing from the media.

Even without the potentially illegal activity, Terry’s GreenTech venture still shows well why Terry McAuliffe is the sleaziest man to ever run for statewide office in Virginia. This article from May details that…

It’s time to get to know Terry McAuliffe, the candidate running for Governor under the Democrat banner. We will be featuring stories on McAuliffe so you can get to know what the Commonwealth has in store if he wins the election in November.

Let’s start with Terry’s Green Energy record. McAuliffe is your typical Democrat on this issue and his behavior speaks to why these guys shouldn’t be in charge of the local dog pound…no less the Commonwealth’s government.

McAuliffe used to be involved in Greentech Automotive. As head of this green automotive company, McAuliffe chose to build a new manufacturing plant in Mississippi instead of Virginia. That of course is an interesting decision for a person who wants to be the governor of Virginia; and supposedly be focused like a laser on job growth in the Commonwealth.

But it is possible we are better off with Greentech in Mississippi.

This business had big plans…according to McAuliffe, “our first car, as I say, will roll out on July 4 of this year and we’re selling the first 100,000 vehicles for $10,000.”

He said that in January 20, 2011.

Outside of prototypes, no cars have been produced. As for the new Mississippi factory, the company received a 10 year waiver on their property tax bills from the local government to lure them in. But Greentech had to pay the property tax bill recently (which they didn’t initially do) because there was some confusion about the ten year exemption. From the linked article:

However, that 10 year clock doesn’t start until production at the facility begins. Therefore, the county was correct in charging taxes on the current operation, which currently amounts to a small office space, because the assembly lines in Tunica have yet to produce anything.

Like most green energy plans; McAuliffe was big on plans and delivered nothing but empty promises. While Terry has left Greentech, his legacy lives on. But watching the twisted “green” logic of McAullife isn’t limited to his car company. Like any good leftist, he was opposed to offshore drilling in 2009.

“First and foremost, let me say that our priority on energy needs to be on efficiency measures and renewable sources of energy. As governor, that will be my focus. We need to invest in renewable energy and look for opportunities to create green jobs.”

Terry McAulliffe 2009

Green jobs, like the once created by those crappy little cars McAuliffe was working on back then. Now that he is out of the car business and into the business of trying to run Virginia; his tune in changing. Especially now that is fellow Obama supporters Senator Warner and Webb are pandering to voters on offshore drilling…

Predictably, McAuliffe has jumped on that bandwagon now.

“Terry has learned more about offshore drilling from experts in Virginia,” said McAuliffe spokesman Josh Schwerin. “He thinks that because of technological progress we can now do it in a responsible fashion.”

Terry McAuliffe 2013

Wow he is learning; learning what sells right now in the game of energy politics. This is more than a flip flop by Virginia Democrat leadership; this is the standard operating procedure for all of these political hacks who only cares about how their current policy positions will play in the polls. What are the odds this sudden support for offshore drilling will survive the next election cycle or the next ruling from Obama’s EPA?

Long odds my friends….very long odds. There is a Republican ticket on the ballot that will do the right things on energy, versus a Democrat ticket that’s energy policies will be driven by poll results and their own attempts to profit on the green energy boondoggle. We can choose a team that will fight the Feds or pick Democrat leaders who will kneel before their masters in Washington when the time comes.

Choices don’t get much clearer than this…

Tune in next time when we delve into another policy decision that has long odds of actually working in the real world;  the newly passed Virginia transportation Bill McAuliffe is now taking credit for everyday in his advertising.

But to be fair, lets let Terry have the last word on Greentech…
