While Obama vacations, American veterans ignored.

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

American servicemen in Vietnam and Laos were called upon to operate in many dangerous circumstances both on and off duty, and they were prepared to be wounded, killed or captured. It probably never occurred to them that they could be abandoned by the country they so proudly served.—Task Force Omega Web Site

While watching the grandeur of the Obama vacations, you might have missed this story. Most of the lamestream media apparently did. The bodies of two Vietnam veterans were returned home to be buried in Arlington National cemetery. Nearly 44 years ago, Majors James E. Sizemore and Howard Vincent Andre, Jr. were shot down over Laos. Their bodies were never recovered.

According to the POW Network and Task Force Omega web sites, Majors Sizemore and Andre were attached to 609th Special Operations Squadron flying the Douglas A26A Invader twin-engine light bomber.

In 1966, eight A26′s were deployed to Nakhon Phanom to perform hunter-killer missions against truck convoys in southern Laos.

Maj. James E. Sizemore and Maj. Howard V. Andre Jr. comprised an A26 team stationed at Nakhon Phanom, assigned a mission over the Plain of Jars region of Xiangkhoang Province, Laos on July 8, 1969. Sizemore was the pilot and Andre the navigator on the flight.

The aircraft with the two men were shot down 12 miles south of the city of Ban Na Mai. The bodies were never recovered.

The crash site was discovered in 2012 and the two men were identified April 9, 2013. In September of 2013, the remains were buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

The Air Force, however, citing budget cuts refused a fly-over of the ceremony. A group of retired pilots—at their own expense—took up the gauntlet. A group of pilots in vintage planes, including an A26 like the one in which the majors were killed, did their own fly-over. The tribute also included jets which flew the “missing man” formation.

So the next time Vacation Force One takes to the air, perhaps they can pass over so that the Obama’s can say, “Thank your Major Sizemore and Major Andre. We couldn’t have done this without you.”
