According to sources, our usually slow to react president was very quick to respond to the December 2 terrorist attack in San Bernardino.

Following the mass shooting that killed 14 people and wounded 22, Obama reportedly leaped into action, convening a top-level meeting in the Oval Office with his National Security Council, the attorney general, and the directors of the DHS, FBI, and NSA.

The Commander in Chief’s mission at this time of national crisis? Getting his top lieutenants to unite behind a PR strategy to “downplay the terror angle” —  because a terrorist attack on the home front does nothing to advance the Commander in Chief’s agenda. (The agenda being no boots on the ground in Iraq/Syria, massive immigration, and gun control.)

A source told Jack Murphy of SOFREP (Special Operations Forces Report) that the FBI knew right away that the shooting was an act of terrorism, but Obama put “immense political pressure” on investigators to avoid using the term “terrorism.”

Attorney General Loretta Lynch went above and beyond the call of duty when she not only downplayed the terror-angle, but noted that an anti-Muslim backlash was her “greatest fear.” She also made it clear that the Department of Justice was prepared to prosecute people engaging in “anti-Muslim” rhetoric.

Homeland Security Chief Jeh Johnson did a little better with his first statement after San Bernardino, but he was careful to follow the White House protocol of characterizing the massacre as a “shooting” incident or  an “event,” rather than a Islamic terrorist attack.

Our thoughts are with the victims of yesterday’s horrific shootings in San Bernardino, and with their families.

Since yesterday, our agents and officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been assisting the response to this event. As the investigation continues, I have directed that the full resources of the Department of Homeland Security be brought to bear to support the efforts of first responders and law enforcement.

We remain at a heightened state of vigilance against all threats, and I will not hesitate to take further measures, as necessary.

For his own part, Obama stated, “It is possible that this is terrorist related, but we don’t know…It is also possible that this was workplace related.”

The FBI and local law enforcement were tight-lipped at first, but self respect trumped fear of crossing the White House, so the truth came out.

The FBI’s Los Angeles field office and local police are scared of losing any and all credibility by not declaring the shootings an act of terrorism, especially considering another recent incident in which they were made to look as if they were hiding information from the public. In the face of relevations about Farook having contact with ISIS, Al-Nusra, and Al-Shabaab, the FBI was finally forced to make an announcement that they were pursuing a terrorism investigation, whether the White House liked it or not.

Obama finally acknowledged that the slaughter in San Bernardino was an act of terrorism in his Oval Office speech on December 6 – 4 days after most Americans had already come to that conclusion.

2016 can not get here quick enough.
