Demand Dishwashers that can Clean and are Fast!

Remember the days when dishwashers would actually clean and dry your dishes in only an hour? Today’s dishwashers more than double that amount of time and you still have to pick pieces of food off before hand-drying them. Our friends at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) have found a way around the federal government’s overreaching standards on dishwashers to bring these more time efficient ones back.

In 1987, Congress passed the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act (NAECA) which set forth energy efficient standards for appliances that the Department of Energy was tasked to review on a regular basis. An unintended consequence of the NAECA was that other efficient dishwasher features were sacrificed in order to focus on only the energy component. We have learned that the federal government can reconcile this issue.

CEI has found a way to bring back the dishwashers that we all prefer. The Secretary of Energy Perry, has the power to create a new class of dishwashers which would wash and dry your dishes in an hour. Secretary Perry needs to hear that this is a desire of the American people. This is where we need your help!

Current energy efficient standards on appliances have been problematic, especially for dishwashers. Dishwashers prior to the 1987 National Appliance Energy Conservation Act cleaned and dried dishes in an hour. Dishwashers today take over two hours to barely clean your dishes and you still have to dry them by hand. These standards have made efficiency worse.

However, there is something you can do. You have the power to create a new class of dishwashers that will restore their previous feature of a quick wash and dry without sacrificing any of the other efficiency standards. This would benefit many American families, including mine. I ask that you take this action quickly.
