A quick look at the LP 2021

Whatever happened to the Libertarian Party?

Does anyone remember “The Party of Principle” and a group of people who were willing to endure being abused in the political process in order to face down the “Omnipotent State?”

Now, the Nevada Libertarian Party has endorsed “free-market” COVID-19 vaccination passports. Bizarre, at first glance. They have publicly announced that they (the leadership, at least) have NO PROBLEM with private businesses requiring vaccine passports. Provided the passports are issued by a PRIVATE organization, and have blockchain or other encryption to “protect privacy.”

What an absolutely marvelous idea. Let us avoid a omniscient GOVERNMENT regime prying into our very private affairs, by instead letting PRIVATE BUSINESS become omniscient and pry into our very private affairs. After all, they are PRIVATE and therefore they have a right to do whatever they want – moral, ethical, or not – to other people. It is only GOVERNMENT that has to honor and give us our rights.

Maybe that is what the Nevada LP fears: they’ll be condemned for condemning a corporate fascism? An alliance of corporate “private” interests with government thuggery to create a VERY “national-socialist” system of internal passports?  Papers please? Not by government goons and thugs but by rent-a-cops at the entries (and exits) of Wal-Mart and Target and Kroger and Albertsons?

The Nevada LP is just one more example of the corruption of much of the Libertarian Party in recent years – its decay into a failing (if not failed) political party that seems to be little more than an attempt at a combination of “Democrat-lite” and “Republican-lite.” This seems to reflect an attitude that government is SO essential to life and society that we must be willing to accept ever more government power. Just not as much as the GOP, the Dems, and the Tranzis in general want.

And guess what – their voting results show that is NOT a successful strategy. And the history of INCREASING tyranny over most of my life – certainly the last fifty years – shows that liberty is being eroded away fairly constantly.

Is there an excuse for the Nevada action? Maybe they want to avoid the condemnation and hatred bestowed on the Kentucky Libertarian Party by the thuggish dictator of Kentucky. The KLP was slammed for comparing proposed COVID-19 vaccine passports to the yellow Star-of-David badges required by the Third Reich. Bashear should know fascism when he sees it – after all, he does it everyday when he looks in a mirror.  But he has the arrogance to condemn the KLP as “antisemitic” for “politicizing the pandemic. Praise and honor to Kentucky Libertarians!

And I also do recognize that the LNC is at least trying, and rejecting at least SOME compromise, as this resolution issued on Thursday the 1st makes clear. I’m reprinting the whole thing – please read it.

LNC Resolution on Vaccine Passports by Staff on April 1, 2021 in News

WHEREAS; the Federal, State, and Local governments of the United States have been inept in the handling of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic and have not been forthright, righteous, nor consistent in their advice and legislation.

WHEREAS; pharmaceutical companies had the vaccine developed for COVID19 disease as early as 72hrs after the DNA sequence was released from Chinese researchers, however the FDA disregarded their own memorandum on the expedited handling of vaccine research and deployment stifling lifesaving technology.

WHEREAS; the Federal government has lied about the usefulness of masks, only to hoard the effective N95 masks for themselves, and then later reversed the position after masks were bought off the market by the public sector.

WHEREAS; by March 2020, the CDC had tested 10,000 people in the United States for COVID19, where South Korea was testing 10,000 per day by forming an open public-private partnership. The CDC, FDA, and CMS worked in tandem to shutdown private laboratories, such as the private University of Washington lab twice, for privately testing positive COVID19 cases. The CDC botched their tests which were rendered scientifically inaccurate while private sector kits were being shipped overseas for use elsewhere.

WHEREAS; the Federal, State, and Local governments across the United States degraded civil liberties, levied steep fines against peaceful people, and took away livelihood and lives through the closure of transportation, businesses, and lockdown orders while hypocritical oligarchs defied those same orders.

WHEREAS; governments stifled the response to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic every step of the way, while the private sector researchers, doctors, nurses, non-profits, and businesses lifted the entire load of relief in spite of governments interference.

WHEREAS; these same government officials now wish to implement a COVID19 vaccination passport for the purpose of restricting travel and maximizing obedience, further perpetuating the technocratic surveillance state.

THEREFORE; be it resolved that the Libertarian National Committee stands in stark defiance of all attempts by government to interfere with the private sector response to COVID19 as well as the degradation of civil liberties and livelihood at the hands of legislators. We oppose vaccine passports and any government mandated documentation, surveillance, restrictions, mandates, or laws which tread on the rights of the people. We stand in service of those seeking freedom in the United States as the centrifugal force of liberty.

FURTHERMORE; the Libertarian National Committee recognizes Dr. Li Wenliang, who was arrested by Chinese police in Wuhan, China for blowing the whistle on the discovery of SARS-CoV-2 virus at the Wuhan General Hospital. Dr. Wenliang was released after signing an affidavit stating he committed “spreading rumors” and was later acquitted after public outrage. Dr. Wenliang died at the age of thirty-three due to encountering the virus by treating patients with COVID-19. Dr. Wenilang was the first casualty by the government in the war against our rights and deserves our unwavering respect. (Adopted April 1, 2021)

Is it enough? No. But it is a start. Government created this crisis – and government has made it worse every step of the way. And government has seized the opportunity to further tyrannize those they rule over.

PS: I suspect that the quislings in Nevada claim that their announcement is in line with the LNC, because in the “Therefore” paragraph the LNC says “we oppose… any government mandated documentation…” Are they that pusillanimous?
