192 House Democrats Refuse To Condemn Socialism As Party Scrambles To Avert DSA Civil War

It is not surprising whatsoever that nearly every House Democrat voted against a Republican-led resolution condemning socialism, giving Republicans fresh campaign material for the upcoming midterm elections amid the rise of the cancerous Democratic Socialists of America within the increasingly unhinged left-wing party. 

The nonbinding resolution, introduced by Republican Rep. Jeff Crank of Colorado, called on Congress to denounce “socialism in all its forms,” reject socialist policies in the US and support implementation of President Trump’s election-security legislation.

The measure passed 220-192. All Republicans supported it, along with eight Democrats: Kathy Castor, Vicente Gonzalez, Henry Cuellar, Darren Soto, Jared Golden, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Don Davis and Gabe Vasquez.

“The DSA candidate platform stands in direct contrast to our republic,” Crank, who introduced the measure, said ahead of the vote. “Getting rid of the United States Senate, open borders, defunding the police, allowing non-citizens to vote in federal elections; those aren’t consistent with our Constitution.”

Meanwhile, the unofficial spokesman for DSA, Hasan Piker, has called on his followers to “kill capitalist”…

As we’ve pointed out, the DSA is selling the American public on an affordability pitch, but the agenda really has nothing to do with that, considering that its members are far-left and hell-bent on what they describe, in their own words, as “destroying the nation from within.”

As we explained last month, citing Andy Laperriere, Piper Sandler’s head of US policy research in Washington, younger Americans have no lived memory of Soviet breadlines or the refugee waves produced by failed communist states. That gap has made it easier to repackage far-left ideology without confronting its record.

The Democratic Party establishment is freaking out about DSA’s rise within the party. We’ve explained that socialist victories in local elections and the White House’s branding of DSA’s ascent as a communist takeover could benefit Republicans ahead of the midterms in five ways (read here).

All in all, yesterday’s vote exposed the Democratic Party’s unwillingness to splinter the party and denounce DSA ahead of the midterms, because doing so would cause a civil war within the party. As for the American people, “destroying the nation from within,” as per DSA’s plan, is not a popular position among average voters.

Another headwind for DSA is that its socialist friends in South America have been rejected in a generational shift across a majority of those countries. Nomura expects the right-wing populist wave to gain momentum across Europe over the next 18 months, indicating that markets favor that shift.
