Conservatives In Disbelief Over Democrat’s Answer: “One Of The Craziest Things I’ve Ever Heard A Politician Say”
Michigan Democrat Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed is facing backlash after suggesting that concerns over transgender students in girls’ sports and locker rooms are so-called manufactured political issues.
The controversy erupted after El-Sayed appeared on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” where correspondent Ross Douthat pressed him about parental rights and transgender students participating in school sports.
El-Sayed attempted to turn the tables on Douthat, questioning the premise of the question instead of directly answering whether biological males should be allowed in girls’ locker rooms.
“I don’t know that that’s actually true,” El-Sayed responded when Douthat suggested competing rights were involved. “I think we manufacture these social issues.”
Democrat Nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan Abdul El-Sayed was asked about transgenders being allowed to use locker rooms with girls when it comes to kids’ sports teams.
He basically responded by saying kids can see and learn about anything they want on the internet anyway and…

The far-left Democrat then offered a bizarre explanation involving smartphones and the internet, argueing that children already have access to virtually unlimited information online, which makes it unrealistic for parents to shield them from everything they might find objectionable.
“The most important thing you can do is not try to protect the person from seeing a thing,” the candidate said.
The response quickly drew criticism from conservatives, who accused El-Sayed of dismissing legitimate concerns about girls’ privacy and safety.
Conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller said that El-Sayed’s answer “is one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard a politician say in my life.”

CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings also thought the response was downright nuts.
“Possibly the worst answer I’ve ever heard on this topic. Yikes,” Jennings wrote on X.
Towhall’s Rusty Weiss wrote:
By that logic, any sexual activity should be free game. In Abdul’s world, why bother protecting girls from pornography when they can just access it on their phones? Drug use is also free game. Any other adult behavior and activity is there for the viewing, so why not just let them access it? And if they can access it online, why not just let them be exposed to sexual activity in real-time?
Does he not see how absurd that is?
The argument effectively dismisses parental efforts to protect girls’ privacy, safety, and innocence as futile.
Again, that might be okay for someone who subscribes to the views of Sharia, but it doesn’t hold water in any actual civilized society. His answer is sick.
Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers also criticized El-Sayed, saying his rival’s remarks were “completely unacceptable.”
The controversy comes just days before Michigan’s closely watched Senate election, with the latest New York Times/Siena poll showing El-Sayed leading Republican Mike Rogers by 11 points, 53% to 42%.
