What do you do when a once-great city is being stabbed to death by migrants?  You save it with a climate change of course. As the no-win ruckus over funding in the fight against soaring London knife crime continues, Indian Mayor Sadiq Khan chooses a climate change campaign to win votes.

With just a couple of months remaining to secure his hapless contract, his promise to rid London of the scourge of knife crime is as mortuary dead as any one of hundreds of victims.

Emperor Khan is investing £50 million on getting London carbon neutral by 2030. Like the ill-famed emperor of Hans Christian Andersen, the mayor born of Indian parents believes London air can be as fresh as a meadow in bucolic Ireland.

The odd-ball mayor praised climate change activists but criticised them for taking the cops away from fighting. Britain’s most useless mayor has now been told that he (that’s you) must pay the £24m bill for the policing the prolonged climate change protest. 

Khan’s wretched tenure meant increasing council tax for everyone, (up 19% in one property band since 2017-18) and upping the hated business rates blamed for the thousands of boarded-up shops on the capital’s High Streets. 

Every weekend brings more shocking evidence that knife crime is out of control. During one evening, within an hour, three men found themselves in hospital, two with critical injuries, following three separate knife attacks in just one hour. 

It’s not only gangs and it’s not stilettos and flick knives, but there are also in the kitchen knives, zombie knives, machetes, but you also name it. In London and much of Britain, the knife is the must-have accessory to check before leaving the house?

While the Mayor talks the talk, you would be hard-pressed to find a Londoner who could identify how the whopping £110m of taxpayer’s money poured into fighting this scourge in this budget year alone has made any difference. 

If Khan thinks this new issue, couched in terms of emission zones, traffic reduction and carbon targets are a vote winner, the Mayor should think again.

These inspirations irritate the shit out of Londoners when putting into practice. They mean inconvenience, clogged roads and proxy taxes, certainly not ballot box-friendly policies among motorists in the outer boroughs.

An increasingly desperate Sadiq Khan, dubbed ‘the highway huckster’, faces the very real prospect of seeing his tenure consigned to the footnotes of history once he leaves office. And he knows it. Like this story? Share it with others.
