Exploring Barcelona is an adventure. From the Gothic churches and historic locations to the bustling nightlife and shopping venues, you’re in for an exciting time of cultural delights. Experience authentic Spanish cuisine, regional wines, and the vibrant colors and intricate movements of Flamenco dancers.

With so many places to go in the city, it is important to dress properly for both comfort and looks. Since walking will most likely be a large part of your Barcelona explorations finding the right pair of shoes to accompany your outfit should be at the top of your pre-trip planning list. Walking is a great way to take in the culture, landscape, including flowers and fountains, and local cuisine.

Sagrada Familia Temple

The attractions in Barcelona will keep you busy with their interesting architecture, market squares, and museums. One of the most visited attractions in Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia temple dating from 1882. The expansive and intricate architecture provides hours of visual entertainment.

Barcelona’s Magic Fountain Show

Barcelona’s Magic fountain show is a spectacular display of color, light, music and water acrobatics for couples. The combination of all these elements ends up in pure magic. There are multiple displays; musical displays start in the beginning of October and go until the end of April.

For a refreshing day enjoying the Mediterranean, plan a visit to L’Aquarium Barcelona. See the a variety of species of fish in the giant aquariums–you can even dive with the sharks!

Picasso Museum

For art lovers, the Picasso Museum offers guided tours of both the permanent and temporary collections of the master artist’s work. Bring a light jacket or sweater as temperatures in museums tend to be extra cool.

Poble Espanyol

For a taste of Spanish culture, take a walk through The Spanish Village: Poble Espanyol. You will be immersed into the past and present with examples reflective of the architecture of the city. Stroll the walkways with their variety of craft shops where you’ll see artisans at work then stop in at one of the local cafes for refreshment.

Las Ramblas Square

Las Ramblas Square is another favorite tourist attraction. Offering access to the lovely Placa Reial and the Gran Teatre del Liceu, you can plan an evening to see a live performance and walk across colorful Miro tiles.

Boqueria Market

Also located along La Rambla is the Boqueria Market. The fresh fruits and vegetables create a colorful, visually stimulating atmosphere. The market is the ideal way to start the day as it offers items for snacking throughout the day while sightseeing.

Parks

End the day at one of Spain’s famous parks, Parc del Laberint d’Horta or Parc Guell, they are perfect for enjoying a picnic for two among the scenic beauty of lush trees, flower gardens, manicured lawns, reflection ponds, fountains and intricate sculptures and statuary. Both parks provide a serene atmosphere to unwind and end the day.
