Relaxing Treats For You & A Loved One

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

With a big thanks to Kevin here’s a relaxing article specially dedicated to all mothers and fathers out there who know that, sometimes, a relaxing time is absolutely mandatory ;)

It’s always nice to get away from it all. It’s even nicer if you can get away from it all with somebody that you really love – be it a friend, a family member or your other half. Sometimes the pressures of maintaining a life, a family and a career mean that we neglect those around us, those that matter the most. If you’ve allowed yourself to get a little too wrapped up in the outside world just recently, and you’ve forgotten to take care of those that are important to you – rest assured. It is something that we’re all guilty of at some point. The way to fix it is with time, your time.

Why not organise a relaxing weekend break or just a special treat for someone that you love? It could be your husband or wife, your mother or your best friend. It might even be your oldest son or daughter. You can’t beat getting away from it all with somebody that you really love, say the experts at MumSpeak.com. Here are some of the things that you could get up to.

Boating – Can you think of anything more relaxing than a fishing or boating trip? It can be as isolated or as social as you like – just the two of you in a row boat on the Norfolk Broads or a beautiful cruise down the canal in Amsterdam or the river Seine in Paris. The same goes for the level of activity you want to get involved with. It could be that you quite fancy a fishing trip or it could be that you want to do nothing but lie in the bottom of a tiny boat and look up at the stars. It’s entirely up to you. There are hundreds of recommended boating companies and trips located throughout the UK, so do your research before you book anything. A lot of them do allow visitors to bring pets along too, says Telegraph journalist Neil Tweedie. Just imagine that – nobody but you and your two favourite people in the world having the time of their lives on the water.

Walking – If you’re not the type who fancies sitting around and soaking up your surroundings without really doing much – you could try a walking weekend. That is, as long as your chosen companion is happy to get a little active too. Walking breaks can be a great way to catch up with loved ones. They can be as slow or as frenetic as you like. They’re peaceful without being dull. There are lots of opportunities for chatting and they tend to be extremely relaxing too. Plus, the UK is the perfect place for walking, says Mirror journalist Sarah Turner. There’s the Lake District, the Yorkshire moors, the Cornwall dunes and broads – not to mention the craggy, rugged delights of Wales and Scotland. Not everybody is bound to find a walking holiday relaxing but for some people, there’s nothing else quite like it.

Spa Breaks – A spa break is the ultimate in relaxation. Plus, it’s the absolute opposite of a walking holiday, so it caters to anyone and everyone who doesn’t quite fancy slipping their hiking boots on and scaling a mountain. There are hundreds of superb spa retreats located throughout the country, but the very best tend to be in the south of England. The rolling countryside, peaceful meadows and beautiful coastlines are the perfect antidote to a stressful life lived in the rat race. Why not treat a loved one to a special spa weekend? If you’re not sure how big your budget is going to be – book you break at a retreat that allows visitors to customise their own treatment packages. Not only will it save you money, but you’ll be able to stick just those activities that you really want to get involved in. Let’s face it, hot stone treatments aren’t for everyone.

Kevin is a business consultant and a father of three! He and his wife enjoy relaxing spa retreats at Grayshott spa in Surrey at least twice every year. Kevin can be found sharing relaxation tips on a variety of sites.
