Holidays Around The World & Candlelight Processional

Disney’s Holidays Around the World held throughout Epcot’s World Showcase features country specific storytelling. While most of the country’s holiday stories are related to Christmas, there won’t be much talk of Jesus. Elsewhere, traditional stories are told such as the story of Ramad@n shared in the country of Morocco in Epcot.

In contrast, Disney’s Candlelight Processional celebrates Jesus birth with Gospel readings accompanied by a full orchestra and choir.  It’s very encouraging to see Disney’s website specific reference “a savior.”  Our prayer is that attendees will find hope and joy, not in a ”tale,” but in the Truth.

“Each night, a celebrity narrator tells the biblical tale of a savior born to a virgin in Bethlehem. All the while, gorgeous choral pieces are woven into the narration as an orchestra and choir provide an inspirational backdrop with songs of hope and joy.

Past narrators have included: actress Mira Sorvino, contemporary Christian artist Michael W. Smith, actress Geena Davis, actor Edward James Olmos, actress Isabella Rossellini, actor Neil Patrick Harris, actress Lorraine Bracco, singer/actress Chita Rivera, country music artist Trace Adkins, actress Susan Lucci, actor Blair Underwood, and actress Marlee Matlin.

When visiting Walt Disney World around Christmas, it is easy to get caught up in the joy of Disney and forget about the Creator of Joy. The Candlelight Processional is a great opportunity to enjoy the magic of Disney without missing the Reason for the Season.

This popular event can fill up quickly warranting consideration of the available Candlelight Dinner packages that include lunch or dinner and guaranteed seating for the processional. As a bonus, those with this package also have pre-arranged fireworks viewing – which is not part of the Christmas story but a beautiful reminder of God’s creativity. To book a reservation for the Candlelight Processional Dinner, visit the Candlelight Dinner Packages page or call (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-5277.
