Top Beaches in the Greek Islands
The Greek Islands have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With each one having gorgeous sand and clear water, which one should you go too? The following beaches are some of the top ones in the Greek Islands.
Elafonisi In Crete
This is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It’s pink coral sand leaves tourists in awe. Dependent on the time you come, the water may be shallow enough so that you can actually wade to the islet that’s close to a mile in length. At the beach will find a beach restaurant as well as sunbeds to lounge on. Nearby there’s the Chrisoskalitissa monastery that’s worth checking out if you get a chance.
Fragos In Elafonisos
While popular practically year round, the summer season brings about quite a few windsurfers and ocean lovers. What’s interesting about this beach is that it’s actually two beaches, rolled into one. The sand seems to go for mile after mile so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a spot to lay your blanket down.
Kolymbithres In Paras
Despite the size of this small town, there’s a lot to see here including Kolymbithres. This small beach is popular among tourists thanks in part to the warm waters. One of the perks of this beach is that you can rent chairs so you don’t need to try to find and haul one of your own in order to have a comfortable place to relax.
Lia In Mykonos
This beach is often a welcome retreat from the lively Mykonos. It’s laidback and quiet. People often come here just to relax or snorkel. It’s popular among families who are looking for a more low key vibe. There’s also a beach restaurant located here so you don’t even need to really leave the beach in order to get something to eat.
Navagio In Zakynthos
Referred to as Shipwreck for the shipwreck that happened here, this is by far Greece’s most photographed beach. The water has such a unique turquoise color that it looks to be fake. It’s also surrounded by amazing limestone cliffs that are white in color. If you want to see Navagio, you can only reach it by boat. Don’t worry though as there are plenty of boats available to take the inquisitive tourist to see this amazing beach.
Palioxori In Milos
Milos is known for a lot of things including its ancient ruins, thermal springs and pebbled beach, Palioxori. The multi colored rocks make it very unique. The water is crystal clear and a favorite place for locals to swim. There’s also a beachside bar to grab a drink while you are enjoying the beach.
