Creta Maris Beach Resort guests introduced to Cretan customs and tradition

Traditional Harvest in Creta Maris Beach Resort, in the context of “We do local“ activities and the resort’s participation in “TUI Care Foundation and Futouris eV” program

On Saturday August 4th, a “Traditional Harvest” day was held in Creta Maris Beach Resort, for 6th consecutive year, in the context of the “We do local“ activities that the resort organizes as well as its participation in “TUI Care Foundation and Futouris eV” program.

The aim of the action was to introduce the traditional Cretan rural work to the guests, while also highlighting in the best possible way the island’s long tradition in grape growing and winemaking.
 
Starting from Creta Maris vineyard, guests and employees had the chance to attend and participate in all traditional Cretan works that have to be done during harvest.

The ritual began by collecting grapes from the vineyard (harvest), transfer them in a traditional way, with the donkey, on the winepress for the production of grape must, and then its distillation in order to produce tsikoudia (raki), as well as grape must jelly. All actions were followed by music, dancing, and delicacies, features of the Cretan hospitality.

The participation of the guests in the “Traditional Harvest” and pressing of the grapes was noteworthy, giving them a valuable experience of the Cretan lifestyle, culture and traditions.
