6 Great Travel Apps That Can Use Offline


Internet access is expanding exponentially across the globe. You can get online in many places even those that previously were considered dead zones such as parks, stadiums, and such. Though the signal is not strong at all places or not available at all in more remote spots. At those times, you will be glad to have the apps below and their option to access information offline.

Maps are still the best way to see where you are and where you are going. Until there are AR and AR glasses, digital maps will help you locate many different points of interest. As you are not always in a spot with online access, the ability to access a map at any time is essential.

Google Translate 
Both the iOS and Android versions let you download 50+ different language packs, allowing for quick translation of words and phrases when on the move.

TripIt
TripIt organizes all of your trip details (flights, hotels, car rentals, and more) in one place. You have one quick access to all your travel docs instead of looking through many apps, folders, emails, and pockets. 
You can view your itinerary on any device including a smartphone, tablet, or computer. One of its most useful features and the one that got them to where they are today is to automatically import all of your travel confirmation emails to create your itinerary from major email providers Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook.com. All of this info is accessible offline. So you can view your entire itinerary from the previous sync, just make to updated while online, while disconnected.

WiFi Finder app identifies all WiFi networks available and gathers as much information about them as possible. This includes WiFi name, security, channel, brand, signal strength, etc. The provides a map of the various locations in your vicinity that have a WiFi signal. When you are offline, you would still be able to see the pre-loaded map of the locations so that you can get to some of these to get back online. I use this app all of the time. It is a great bookmarking service. You can easily add a page you are interested in for later use and bring it up across many of your devices. The sites and articles saved can be viewed on your phone, tablet, or computer. Most importantly, you can access your content from any device, even when you’re not connected to the internet.
Pocket automatically syncs your items across your devices. It can do so in the background or you can adjust the setting to do it manually. To ensure that your content is available offline, you would need to have Pocket download all the content on the device before heading out. 
To use Pocket on your phone, you would need to install the Pocket app. Then just add the share button to the default iOS Share Menu. And now anytime you click on share arrow on your phone, you will see the pocket symbol as well. For more options on how to save to Pocket click here.

XE mobile app is easy to use for quick currency conversion. They also have an Apple Watch version so you can do conversions on the go. It works offline if you don’t have a network connection.
