How You Should Spend Your Time in St. Louis

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

St. Louis is a midwestern city known for the iconic Gateway Arch. Like many cities in this area of the United States, summer and fall are the best times to visit. The city is right on the Mississippi River, so you’ll get a chance to enjoy hiking and water activities along with shopping and sight-seeing.

The Gateway Arch

You don’t just have to stand on the ground and stare at the Gateway Arch, you can take a 630-foot ride to the top! Or if you want to look at it from afar and take pictures, try a guided cruise down the Mississippi. Of course, the arch is so big that you don’t need to get up close and personal to capture it. Avoid the crowds and take some pictures from a rooftop bar.

Missouri Botanical Garden

You can also spot the Missouri Botanical Garden from far away. It’s a glass domed structure filled with over 6.6 million specimens. Second only to the New York Botanical Garden, you can spend a whole day wandering around, looking at the array exhibits. One highlight is the butterfly house; visit it during the springtime to get the full experience!

Forest Park

Forest Park is an urban park full of large, whimsical and strange sculptures. You’ll find everything from giant eyeballs to deer statues that you can walk underneath. This is the perfect place to bring a picnic or goof around all the art and take pictures.

St. Louis Zoo

Did you know that St. Louis Zoo is free? It’s one of the many free attractions in this city. There are hands-on animal experiences along with an aquarium where you can visit sea animals. If you’re a dog lover, you’ll want to check out a rescue dog show. These performances are open to people AND their pups.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery

If you love beer and horses, you must visit the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, you know, the people who make Budweiser! Try some new brews in the tasting room and don’t forget to get a photo with the Budweiser Clydesdales. There are also a number of craft breweries in St. Louis, so you can make beer tasting a full day activity.
