When Can We Travel To Europe Again?

Many travelers are anxious to book trips to Europe. Whether it’s watching the castles & rolling hills while on a river cruise along the Danube, wine tasting & cooking classes in a Tuscany villa while on an Italy tour, or island hopping in Greece, many miss the history, architecture, culture, art, cuisine, unique cities and seaside towns that are found only in Europe. So when will we be able to travel to Europe?

European Union leaders created a list of select countries that could travel, but the U.S. was is not on that list currently. The overall problem is that the positivity rate is increasing rapidly in Europe. Italy, Spain, Greece & France have all implemented curfews. The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control has joined the World Health Organization to sound the alarm over a new surge of the coronavirus across the continent.

That being said, there are a few countries in Europe that you can travel to. Croatia has opened up its borders to all international travelers, as long as they had a negative COVID-19 test 48 hours prior to arriving in the country. There is positive news. CommonPass is being tested and was used on an international flight between London and the U.S. This was the first flight where everyone had been tested prior to boarding. As this Common Pass & rapid testing becomes more readily available, that could certainly open up the opportunity for travel between the U.S. and Europe.

It is likely that travel to Europe won’t open up until the late Spring. That being said, you can still book travel to Europe with little to no risk. Many companies have cancel for any reason insurance. Most airlines are waiving change fees. Tour companies and cruise lines have moved final payment dates that are closer to departure with more flexible cancellation terms. Booking now allows you to take advantage of early booking deals with the knowledge that you can change your mind.
