Khu căn cứ này thường được gọi là khu du kích Gia Lan. Khu du kích giai đoạn 1947 – 1954, có diện tích rất rộng bao gồm toàn bộ phần đất của xã Làng Giàng, một phần phía nam của các xã: Khánh Yên Thượng, Khánh Yên Hạ, Chiềng Ken. Phía Bắc giáp với xã Nậm Rạng – Văn Bàn, phía Nam giáp với xã Nậm Tha – Văn Bàn, phía Tây Bắc giáp với xã Dương Quỳ – Văn Bàn, phía Tây Nam giáp với xã Nậm Xé – Văn Bàn và một phần của Than Uyên.”
