The 2nd Amendment Is An Individual Right That “Shall Not Be Infringed”

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Doesn’t seem that hard to understand, does it?  Not only do “We The People” have the right and duty to form a militia, but we also have an individual right to keep and bear arms (not just the ones that politicians see fit) and that right shall not be infringed.

With the second amendment seemingly always on the political chopping block, it is important to remember why we have it and why the government wants to get rid of it.

Let’s hear from some people that were alive when the Constitution and second amendment were wrote and see what they have to say about it.

“No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” ~Thomas Jefferson

“The right of the people to keep and bear…arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country…” ~ James Madison

“A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.” ~ Richard Henry Lee

“Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American… The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people” ~ Tench Coxe

Of the seemingly endless more quotes I could provide for you, none of them, not once, say that the government has any right to regulate firearms or tell the people which ones they can and can not own.  In fact, it is made very clear by our founders and others that the people not only have the right, but the duty to have firearms and firearms equivalent to standing armies.

“Assault rifles,” which by definition has a full-auto or burst selector switch (which an AR-15 does not), is exactly one of the firearms that “We The People” are intended and duty bound to own.

The second amendment not only specifically allows, but puts the duty on the shoulders of the American people to own and operate any firearm of their choosing that would successfully defend against and overthrow a tyrannical government.

Gun control is not about saving lives, it is about controlling the people that could rise up in opposition to tyranny.

Petitioning doesn’t work…revolution IS what keeps this country free and the federal government in check.
