An American Eulogy

On my way to work this morning I heard something on the radio that started a flood of thoughts and brought me to a horrifying realization.  What I heard was, a man on the street interview where the interviewer was asking 20 something adults if they knew why we had a 4^th of July holiday. 

Only about 20% of those asked actually knew the answer, while the others either laughed it off with statements like “I’m kind of embarrassed for not knowing”, while other answers ranged from “the end of civil war” to “celebrating the workers of America” (that one hit me hard with its Marxist sentiment).

First I was angry, actually yelling at the radio, and then my anger slipped to something even worse.  The realization that the country I love some much doesn’t exist anymore.  As my anger moved aside my mind was flooded with the thoughts on how over the past 100 years our country has been on a slow steady march away from everything it was meant to be and how over the past 15 years it has snowballed to point that what America was and was supposed to be, no longer exists.  An imposter was standing in its place, a victim of national identity theft.

We no longer have a government of the people, by the people and for people.  Our government officials are for the banks, the corporations and of course their own power.  We live in a country that our every movement is tracked, phone calls recorded, internet activity monitored, library transactions checked and even our own home appliances are spying on us. 

Our government passes exemptions to itself from the crushing laws and regulations it imposes on the citizens. 

If you’re a large enough donor to one party or the other you can get those exemptions as well.  Our politicians constantly get caught in lies and scandals but almost never suffer any repercussions.  The mega banks brought our country to the verge of collapse, but we the tax payer bailed them out, while our lives and finances were left to suffer. 

The mega banks have been caught laundering money for drug cartels and terrorist organizations, rigging markets to steal the wealth of the ordinary person, but does anyone ever go to jail or even get fired? No, they pay a small fine, compared to the money they made from these endeavors, then go about business as usual.

Our mainstream media has become the propaganda wing for the ruling elite.  There are no more hard investigations into the lies and corruption that happen every day in Washington. 

Quite the opposite, they do their very best to hide or minimalize it.  Then when the alternative media starts to latch on to these items they are dubbed conspiracy theorist, not real journalist and even liars, no matter what the facts are.  All the while the sheeple of this country fall in line. 

Then when the alternative media starts to gain followers, the criminals in the government try to pass laws to regulate the internet, all in the name of “Fairness”.  Free Speech be damned!  The sheeple get their news from Comedy Central and feel they are informed.

Who are our heroes?  Are they the brave men and women of our armed forces who sacrifice every day in the service of this once great nation?

  Is it our police officers, who every day stand between the law abiding and those who wish to bring harm? 

Could it be our Mothers and Fathers who sacrifice and work every day to provide for their family? 

All of these are now enemies of the State.  The government lists returning veterans as the #1 terrorist threat to this country, while there is no mention of radical Islam.  Our VA system is broken, besides a lot of talk nothing has been done to even start fixing the issues, they continue to get worse. 

The media uses every opportunity to show police in a bad light, even if the story they’re touting is false, it’s still those evil police out murdering the innocent.  War on the family has been going on for decades and finally succeeded. 

No more is there any talk of the value of having both Mother and Father in the home to raise the children.  No, children belong to the state and if you take actions to shield your children from their poison they will do everything in their power to find you unfit and remove your children. 

At the same time will find every legal means available to return a child back to their neglectful, drug addicted, abusive single parent as long as there is government over site and throw in a few social programs so that family becomes dependent on the state.

So who are the heroes of this new nation?  The lawless, the immoral and the subversive are put up on pedestals for the sheeple to admire and they fall right line. 

Bruce Jenner, yes Bruce not Katelyn, has been irrelevant in the sports world for 40 years, but just won the ESPN courage award for getting a boob job and wearing a dress.  A third grade teacher had her students send “Get Well” cards to a convicted cop killer in jail for life.

The sheeple know more about and look up to likes of Honey Boo Boo, the Kardashians, Courtney Stodden, Lindsey Lohan and a whole list of miscreants, than they know about the founders of this country.  Of course there are the sports stars, actors and musicians and their wholesome lives for the mindless masses to look up to.

We don’t even have a national identity anymore. 

I always believed that everyone in this country had the opportunity to work hard and advance in life.  Take responsibility for your own actions and stand on your own 2 feet. 

That was the American Dream.  That dream attracted people from all over the world to come to this country.  Now we have become a socialist welfare state, everyone seems to feel like they are entitled to what other people have earned.   

Go to college, rack up huge debt, don’t worry the tax payer will cover it.  They have removed all the risk, so now it’s almost impossible to reap the reward.  People no longer flock to this country to work hard and build a better life, now they come here to get a better government check than the one they were getting from the crap hole country they ran away from. 

Immigrants who come here legally have to stand on their own, there is no welfare for them, but our government seems eager to give our tax dollars away to those who come here illegally. 

Our criminal government has done all it can to bypass the constitution; all 3 branches of the government see themselves as rulers not civil servants.  As long as they can keep us divided and fighting against each other, they can destroy every bit of freedom we ever had. 

The Constitution was written to protect “We the People” from Government, not to establish a new ruling class.  Karl Marx called them useful idiots, I call them sheeple, either term goes to show that no matter what period in time you look at, the vast majority of humans are led around by the self proclaimed elites and do their bidding, all the while being lied to. 

America was supposed to be different, the people had the power, we had founding documents that set a course of growth and prosperity that had never been seen on this planet before.  Free the people from the oppressive power hungry and they will flourish and we did.  Now those documents are nothing more than pieces of history sitting in a museum.

For decades I have celebrated the 4^th of July with vigor, large gatherings of my family and friends, all coming together to celebrate the birth of the greatest nation the world had ever seen. 

So this Saturday the sheeple will have their parties, wave a flag once a year, get drunk and watch some fireworks and a huge number of them don’t even know why. 

I have decided instead to have a wake, lower my flag that flies above my home everyday to half mast and mourn the loss of the country I truly loved.
