Pres. Trump’s WH speech addresses national security, border crisis

Last evening, President Donald Trump made the compelling case for addressing the crisis on our southern border.

His prime time speech (9 minutes) was delivered from the Oval Office, stressing the seriousness of the issue that he is willing to go to the mat to fund. The partial government shutdown continues, with “non-essential” workers temporarily furloughed. These are the facts.

Pres. Trump is asking for $5.7 billion for security construction, a small percentage of what we give to foreign nations for their security. More than 200 countries receive American foreign aid. (Numbers supplied by the U.S. Department of State.) Additionally, the U.S. is assessed at 22% of the U.N.‘s budget to bolster the organization that consistently votes in opposition to our interests and those of our allies.

This Jan. 4, 2019 letter sent to members of Congress details the facts and figures relating to the open border and criminality. It also includes these words:

“It is the sovereign right of every nation to establish an immigration program in its national interest—lawfully admitting those who have followed the rules, while denying entry to those who break the rules or fail to meet the requirements established in law.

A nation that fails to control its borders cannot fulfill its most basic obligations to its citizens—physical safety, economic security, essential public services, and the uniform protection of our laws.”

In 2006 The Secure Fence Act (view senate votes) won the majority of Democrat votes and even Republicrat amnesty proponents McCain and Kyl supported it, along with Obama, Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Biden, Durbin, Specter and Feinstein.

Watching last night’s Democrat rebuttal was a study in political absurdity, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who voted for border wall funding in 2006, now steadfastly opposed to any such measures due to his animosity towards Pres. Trump. Schumer currently calls a wall “ineffective.“ Pro-abortion House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who knows something about her description, termed the wall “immoral.”

It would be interesting to know if Catholic Pelosi had a similar discussion with Pope Francis, who lives in safety and security behind a massive 50-feet-tall, ten-feet thick wall surrounding the fortress that is Vatican City.

Unblinking, zombie-like Pelosi questioned the facts of a crisis posed by the thousands of illegal invaders caravanning through Mexico to our border from the Central American countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. After arriving at the border, these folks who so desire to be Americans, waved flags of their native countries and hurled rocks and bottles at the U.S. Border Patrol agents.

President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will attend the Senate GOP Policy lunch today and will follow that by hosting a bipartisan group of congressional leaders at the White House.

Donald Trump won the 2016 presidency after distinguishing himself from 16 other Republican Primary Election candidates by campaigning on securing the border. 

Not dissuaded by the obstinate Democrats, he will travel to the U.S.-Mexico border Thursday to further detail the need for a wall.
