Tuba-Uda Corollaries

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Tuba-Uda Corollaries are a natural outcome of the Tuba Doctrines.  These corollaries complement and support the Tuba Doctrines.  They were developed and are used in conjunction with the Tuba Doctrines.  Tuba, Etele, and Uda (2005) record The Tuba-Uda Corollaries in a book titled The Third Resource: A Universal Ideology of Economics.  We state these useful corollaries as follows:

Corollary 1 – Limited Natural Resources

Natural resources are limited and eventually will become scarce and totally depleted unless they are methodically replaced or recycled.

Corollary 2 – Types of Natural Resources

Natural resources may be solids, liquids, or gases.  They may be elements or compounds.  They may be organisms (organic substances or animate objects) or non-organisms (inorganic substances or inanimate objects).  They may be minerals, plants (flora), or animals (fauna).

Corollary 3 – Reuse of Natural Resources

Some used, expended, decayed, or destroyed natural resources can be regenerated, reconstituted, and/or recycled.

Corollary 4 – World Population

The world’s population (currently at 6.9 billion) will continue to grow at an accelerated pace and eventually will become a problem that must be dealt with if it is not already a problem.

Corollary 5 – Rich and Poor

In the world, there will always be those who are rich and those who are poor.  One defines the other because they are relative terms.  There will always be the haves and have-nots, for one cannot exist without the other.

Corollary 6 – The Wealth Pie

The poor can be made wealthier by increasing the overall wealth pie.  It should not be a zero-sum game.  The pie can be expanded.

Corollary 7 – Value and Perceived Value

Value can be created, added to, and/or increased…even if it sometimes may be considered only as perceived value.  Perceived value is created within the minds of people.

Corollary 8 – Homo Sapiens

As long as Homo sapiens roam the earth, there will always be human-generated resources.

Corollary 9 – Advanced Intellect

Developing high-value and human-generated resources are a function of intelligence level, education, and knowledge-base of society.  The more technically advanced humans become, the faster they will develop human-generated, high-technology resources.

Corollary 10 – Knowledge

Knowledge is being identified, discovered, generated, and/or created at an increasing pace and will continue to accelerate at an exponential rate continuously and indefinitely.

Corollary 11 – Total Knowledge Set

In many cases, old knowledge becomes outdated and obsolete.  This old knowledge is replaced with new knowledge.  New knowledge is being created faster than old knowledge is becoming obsolete.  Hence, the total knowledge set is increasing.

Corollary 12 – Knowledge Generation Process

Engineers, scientists, and technologists (ESTs) continually create new knowledge.  They use this knowledge to invent, create, innovate, and construct technological products, instruments, and equipment.  These products, instruments, and equipment are then used to create new knowledge, technologies, and more advanced products.  The process goes on ad infinitum.

Corollary 13 – ESTs’ Contributions and Motivations

ESTs possess needs to grow, advance, discover, invent, create, innovate, build, achieve, accomplish, change, add value, and make a difference in society.  In turn, they also have needs to be remunerated well, recognized, awarded, rewarded, and held in esteem by their peers and contemporaries.

Corollary 14 – ESTs and Stature

The ESTs build their stature through advanced degrees, research, discovery, inventions, patents, innovation, publications, presentations at technical conferences, advancing the state-of-the-art, working on cutting-edge technology, and membership in learned societies and organizations.

Corollary 15 – Capital or Money

Capital or money is purchasing power.  It is a means of exchange.  It is a tool.  It represents value.  It is something that almost everyone desires.  Those who have no capital or money, desire it.  Those who have capital or money, desire to retain or expand it.

Corollary 16 – Money and Materials

As an idle resource, money or materials do not create new value or increase the value of anything.  However, humans, using technology and money as a catalyst, convert material resources into value-added tools and new, higher technology … both of which sustain great value.

Corollary 17 – United States Leadership Role

For the world to improve, the United States must take the leadership role, but we must do it with humility.

Corollary 18 – Ownership of Stuff

Every person desires ownership of something whether it is a home, car, business, computer, or whatever.  One gauge of personal progress is the amount of “stuff” a person owns and accumulates.  It is no different with countries.  Countries also desire to own “stuff” whether it constitutes material goods, real estate, military weapons, or just sheer power.

Corollary 19 – Economic Growth

Free markets, free enterprise, competition, deregulation, and entrepreneurial pursuits are some of the human-generated resources we need to promote in developing a strong, growing economy.

Corollary 20 – Rational Approaches

The scientific method and problem solving technique will continue to serve as the rational approaches for developing more, new technology.
