More Kitty Kitty

This whole mountain lion thing creeps me out a bit though it probably shouldn’t. I guess it’s because we have a new puppy who is having a great time bounding around up there. He doesn’t stray right now but you never know.

To tell you the truth, a bear could simply just show up at any time so it pays to be wary. Yes, I do have a weapon with me and my wife just ordered pepper spray.

Yesterday my wife made this video. This is not Ted Nugent Cat Scratch Fever. Those scratches are pretty deep into the tree. If you have ever tried to scratch a tree, you would understand that cat is pretty powerful and it’s claws are sharp. It’s at a place about 100 yards from our place. The lady that owns this cabin puts out a lot of corn everyday. That corn attracts ducks.

She has so many ducks going in and out of there daily it’s like a harbor. We see the ducks and call them “The Flotilla”. They are mallards but we have golden eyes and mergansers on our lake as well. We also have loons.

Of course, that brings in the eagle and osprey who hunt them. It’s like Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom right off my dock.

The corn also attract deer. Guess who hunts deer? Yeah, mountain lions.

My other neighbor Stan used to blog. If you want to see some photos of wolves and bobcats, he got them on a game camera in the winter.

One year we had a big buck deer that you could feed out of your hand. We called him “Bucky”. Bucky spent a lot of time munching corn at my neighbor’s feeders. One winter Stan emailed me and informed me that Bucky was dead. A pack of wolves got him on the ice while he was trying to eat some cedar.

We installed some game cameras. Nothing yet. We also activated our Nest cameras so we can go through the old video.

I informed the Minnesota DNR about the cat but they were less than impressed.
