Debbie-Texas Things are changing weather wise and food. Here in central TX. We had a low of 60 about a week ago, feels nice but husband increasing our wood supply and while we have a good garden on most stuff (cant grow a squash this year?) , I’m still planting and harvesting and will continue. Kids and some say aren’t you done mom? Going to get what we can because you don’t know about next year. Yes were tired but wwe must keep on keeping on. LORD please give us wisdom.

Talk to someone who lived in Communist Russia. Danny is right. Elites had everything. Average person lived in hovels, waited in lines for hours only to get to the front and nothing was left. Crappy clothes and shoes that cost a months wages. A friend of mine had a friend who defected. He didn’t have a choice of career field. He was told what his career would be. It is TOTAL control.

Danny, I laughed at my neighbor yesterday although it wasn’t funny really. She planted 6 rows of beans. Good looking plants, very healthy. But she only had 4 beans on those 6 rows! Yep, 1 bean per row and a half. No bees. The look on her face was priceless. Went to the farmers market to check. Green beans were $20 a peck!!!! that is $60 a bushel. And he only had 2 peck. It ain’t coming, it’s here!!!!!!

I just drove through Ohio. Usually the fields were full of corn, soy etc. Most of them were weeds, the few that were planted had stunted growth.

So true Mr. Danny. It has begun. My husband and I were talking about this yesterday. It will be a slow start, where people can not see it coming, then when they see, it will be too late. It’s the mind of people that everything stays constant, nothing changes. When in fact we live in a world that is always changing. Our generation really hasn’t experienced anything ‘bad’ or really had to even struggle. I think many take that for granted.

Ditto! I feel it’s all of the above. No one thing is causing the shortages, the weather change, etc. I live near San Diego and I was I Arizona a week ago and the shortages are everywhere. Prep up people, my 2nd freezer gets delivered Thursday.

One should be cautious to whom they tell about all their food and where they store it…..if there is a shortage of food there are those that will come and steal for themselves and to sell…….especially senior citizens. They are a easy pray….. My mother in law was walking out of her bank and some thief ran by and grabbed her purse knocking her to the ground. Some elderly man saw this a ran after him hitting him in the legs knocking the guy to the ground, yelling thief so everyone around could hear. Lol he walked with a cane but he had a burst of energy from his anger. A young man held this guy down until police came and he was arrested……..luckily but probably was out the next day. So everyone make sure your food is safe from human predators, food is money in hard times.

My corn is growing odd. The taller corn stalks are not tasseling. The shorter corn has tall tassels on them. The shorter corn is getting more sun through the day. The taller corn is shaded half of the day, but its growing faster without any tassels.

I too believe ppl needs to store back or prep! If you have a place to grow food I urge people to do so. We haven’t seen any issue here, but we are in a small town. 30 minutes to a to the closest walmart. Maybe its noticed more in bigger cities because of a lot more people buying more products quicker. Where as a small store like the one in our town, thier shipment is enough to fill the shelves and store room. God Bless.

You’re right, and the USDA KNOWS it! I just placed my zip code onto their zone map and I’ve been moved from 7B to 7A, a cooler zone. This means I’m going to have to plant later in the Spring, and my Fall garden will have to be planted earlier. This will change again, as our weather cools down even more. We grew corn at our Arkansas garden. It is stunted and diseased. Just 6 miles away, they grow corn for a petroleum company-strictly for fuel- and it looks full and healthy. Maybe they can afford to keep it irrigated and heavily sprayed, I don’t know.

I take alfalfa pills, I need them to help with my IBS and when i take them I am good… Anyways the health food store I ALWAYS get them can’t get them anymore I phone all the other around me nope there not there, finally found two bottles 1 1/2 hours away. We went and got them.. Why on earth would they be sort humm I think even hay is going to sky rocket so people who have animals don’t for get to store up now for them too.

In NE Pennsylvania for at least 5 or 7 years I have noticed that our Wlmrt has constantly not had food stocked. Canned goods, frozen as well as pet foods. I just assumed it was because the people in charge of ordering were not doing a very good job. I feel like I am behind the 8 ball on this. After hurricane Sandy we were out of power for 16 hours. It was a huge wakeup call to us because in 25 years we have never lost power. It scared us so we bought a generator and stocked enough freeze dried food to last 4 weeks. Can anyone tell me where can I find an easy to comprehend site for calculating how much non freeze dried ( canned, boxed or frozen) food per person per year? I have started this past week by buying 2 of what was on my list. ie: I needed spaghetti so I bought 2 boxes and put 1 in the storage. Thanks again. Best blessings.

I’m in Phoenix AZ, our temps so far have been 107 – 112 daily since end of May (today is 109). Because of our very limited income (social security), we have to depend on the local food bank for our food. Our over 55 mobile home park does not allow us to grow vegetable gardens (only flowers). I was told by a food bank employee that the amount of people they service has tripled in the past couple of months which means food is being rationed at the food bank. The people who had their food stamps cut or down-sized are now running to the food banks. I have been doing food storage since 2017 of rice, dried beans & split peas, dry cereal, powdered milk, peanut butter, and now extra canned food we get. I have been freezing the fresh vegetables we get each month and freezing bread. (My husband says I’m hoarding & I’m not in God’s will.) I don’t know about the grocery store shelves because we only get things like margarine, salt, etc. every couple of months. If I can afford to, I’m going to start storing margarine in the freezer while it’s cheaper. The social security check goes totally to bills (lot rent, utilities, car insurance, gasoline). With God’s help, we survive. God does provide for his children. Thank you Jesus!

I’m in New Brunswick Canada and last November I had to go to three food stores to find a head of cabbage. Today the price of fresh produce has gone up quite a lot. There is always some sort of fresh produce that is simply not on the shelf. If this trend keeps up fresh food will soon be unaffordable.

Hub is OTR and sees newly planted corn (recent since floods) about ankle to knee high. He watched stuff rot in the fields during the flooding.

I feel like another commenter, the more people that yell,”crises” the more people who will believe it. We all need to migrate towards a more self sufficient lifestyle. It’s all regional. Here in Wisconsin there are corn fields tasseled and over 6ft tall and then 2 miles down the road, hardly knee high. I work for a farm cooperative, one of the largest, and yes there is great concern among the farms. Its scary and a wake up call. Corn plants are only 3 feet tall here in my area. (Central Texas). Plants are completely burned up. Hardley any leaves on the plants.

I am also in the south and our Danny corn is pushing 10 feet high! Most things are a little later than usual but most doing well. Squash has been poor (pests) but lots of beans, tomatoes, etc. Canning all day today!

I live in Mississippi and we have had massive backwater flooding since February here in our Delta where it is nothing but farm land. Many crops, acreage, livestock, homes and jobs have been lost due to this flooding. I have been saying for months and months now that losing these vital crops and livestock will make food prices soar this fall and winter. The majority of people here are extremely confused about why there has been NO and I mean ZERO media coverage on these flooded places (not even local coverage) and after doing some research ALL of the flooded zones along the MS River are all farm land. It is almost like someone flooded those areas on purpose to create a food shortage.
