Mexican Drug Lords Versus U.S. Warlords

When Americans look at Mexico they are horrified by the corruption and the anarchy that has the lives of the Mexican people in its grips.  From 2006 to 2012 there has been somewhere around 60,000 people killed.  These deaths are the result of the Mexican government’s war on drug cartels for which it has enlisted the aid of the U.S. government.  This death toll not only counts those killed by the government fighting the drug cartels, but it also represents the losses from battles that rage between drug cartels for control of territory.  While the average Mexican citizens would be relatively safe from this type of violence, it seems the Mexican people are now being targeted as a means to instill in them the understanding that drug cartels run Mexico and they are not to become involved in the Mexican political process.  

It would not be a mistake to argue that there is a shadow government in Mexico made up of politicians who are controlled by elements of a narco-state whose leaders are ruthless, organized and as easily replaced as the local Mexican politicians who accept their bribes.  It is therefore impossible for the Mexican government to act against drug cartels seeing how the government is made up of politicians who seek to enrich themselves from the profits of illegal drugs. 

Consider that even as the U.S. fights a war on drugs and spends billions of dollars on interdiction, law enforcement and prisons, that the profits are still so huge and the demand still so great as to allow the criminal elements that make up the drug cartels to buy the entire Mexican government and fund narco-state militias able to wage war against the portion of the Mexican government that can only be maintained at great expense to the American people.  This anti-drug army the U.S. funds inside Mexico would crumble within minutes of any cutoff of funds and its soldiers would join the drug cartels on the same day.  It is only that the U.S. props up and controls Mexican politicians who accept U.S. drug war funding that the U.S. government is able to wage what has proven to be a failed war on drug traffickers that has cost Americans their liberties and now has led to police seizing Americans’ hard-earned money under grotesquely unconsitutional asset forfeiture laws.  These seizures have become epidemic and police have stolen money for people buying and selling cars or moving money around for their small businesses.

Now it seems that some local politicians and the drug cartels that funded them have overstepped their bounds and engaged in acts of such senseless brutality that it threatens to drive the Mexican people into revolt against the government and a war of retribution against the drug cartels that have repeatedly engaged in mass slaughter against Mexicans who have tried to politicize the issue of corruption within the Mexican government and the drug cartel’s crimes against humanity that have resulted in mass executions.  While previous acts of violence were always attributed to either narco-terrorism, cartel wars or battles between government forces and drug cartels, the latest incident involving the massacre of 43 college students makes little sense except that it demonstrates even within the Mexican narco-state absolute power, even when wielded at the local level, tends to corrupt absolutely.

Mexican citizens from small villages who have been the retaliatory victims of drug cartels engaging in terrorism have established militias that have instituted security measures against drug cartels.  In some instances these militias have come toe-to-toe with corrupt politicians who have vested interest in maintaining the status quo. Opposing these corrupt politicians means that at some level they are also opposing both the Mexican police and military.  As these politicians accept drug money, they have decided they will not allow the Mexican people to rebel against what has become Mexico’s established political order.  

In the instance of the murdered college students, it appears 43 students from Ayotzinapa Teacher Training College, a school that has a long tradition of activism, were planning to conduct a protest that would interfere with the local mayor’s wife’s event.  Iguala Mayor, Jose Luis Abarca, and his wife, Maria de los Angeles Pineda were known as “the imperial couple” by local media for how they presided over their southern Mexican city.   The mayor ordered then-Iguala Police Chief Felipe Flores Velasquez to stop the student  demonstration and after several were shot the rest were transported to the local police station, the former police chief then turned the students over to members of the Guerreros Unidos gang.  Police Chief Velasquez currently  remains a fugitive.

Reports then confirm that the local police had turned the students over to the drug gang that transported them to a dump to be executed and then burned in fires that were kept alive for over 14 hours using petroleum products and rubber tires.  The charred remains were then bagged and dumped into the River San Juan in Cocula, located near Iguala.  The police have in custody today three gang members who confessed to the massacre.  They are Patricio Reyes Landa, Jhonatan Osorio Gomez and Agustin Garcia Reyes.

The fact is that just like in the U.S., anyone in Mexico can be bought off. Or, maybe it is just that anyone seeking to be a politician can be bought off regardless of in which country they reside.

While American citizens recoil in horror and denounce such savagery, this butchery needs to be examined in a way that draws attention to all crimes committed by those who have deigned themselves to accept the U.S. government’s excuses for mass murder for which this incident of slaughter pales in comparison to vast amounts of lives lost as the result of U.S. imperial slaughter.  

The dominant class in the U.S. has such a lock on power that it is able to legitimize all of its theft, fraud, torture and murder through institutions that provide breadcrumbs and table scraps to those who are willing to aid and abed its crimes.   Moreover, it is able to get society to accept as necessary its wanton police violence that has become an epidemic but which garners no attention in our corporate controlled media. 

The Mexican government has acted in a way that resulted in the deaths of 43 people.  This represents the death toll of one bomb on an Iraqi wedding party, an atrocity that happened more than once during the U.S. occupation.  The 60,000 killed as a result of the drug war amounts to a about 8% of the 500,000 Iraqi children that died as the result of the U.S. preventing penicillin from being provided to Iraqi children.

Knowing Iraq had no WMDs, BU.S.h wanted to wage war on millions because as he said, “Saddam tried to kill my daddy.”  What he failed to mention is that his daddy and Dubya himself both tried repeatedly to kill Saddam.  Saddam tried to warn the U.S. as the political class laughed about the “Mother of All Battles”.  Now it seems Saddam is having the last laugh as the U.S. continues to spend its way toward collapse.  Yet, the slaughter by the U.S. against a country that had no WMDs, did not attack America and had nothing to do with 9/11 was wholeheartedly supported by both political parties and the entire neocon establishment.  Again, the slaughter involved in this endeavor was perpetrated as though it was perfectly acceptable for the U.S. to wage aggressive war and occupy other countries as war crimes became so grotesque that the puppet government in Baghdad could no longer overlook them and was forced to withdraw immunity from U.S. soldiers after General Stanley McChrystal’s men in JSOC literally cut the bullets out of grandmothers and small children under the age of three to hide their complicity after they decided to carry out a massacre on a defenseless family in which women and small children were summarily executed.

And while one wonders what the police chief, mayor, his wife and the three drug gang members were thinking when they decided to kill 43 people so that the mayor’s wife’s party was not rained on by protesting students, one can hardly ignore the similarities of  the U.S. bombing Libya for deciding it wanted gold for its oil.  The fact is that Saudi Arabia is holding so much debt, that it as concerned about the dollar collapse as is the U.S. government.  Therefore, it is willing to wage war using takfiri terrorists to protect its interests.  What is curious. is how everyone knows what the Mexican police chief did to these students was criminal, yet every American supported the war waged against Gaddafi and believed the lies that he was despised by his own people and sought to slaughter civilians even though million-man rallies were held in city of a country that contains only about five million people.   

Americans are surprised that corrupt Mexican officials want to bury this case along with the remains of the dead students, but how is it they are not surprised about the assassination of president Kennedy and the political cover-up that ensued.  The American peoples’ president was killed in broad daylight, yet to this day the records of Kennedy’s death remained sealed.  How is it a shadow government in the U.S. can commit such crimes and be granted greater unaccountability than afforded to Mexican drug lords?

The fact is that our political elite are every bit as brutal, corrupt, vicious and evil as Mexican drug lords and their crimes involve the murder of millions of people and the theft of the wealth of entire nations.  And while they do this, the generals are granted 24/7 coverage about how great the war is going as the most heinous war crimes and crimes against humanity are hidden or sanitized. 

The fact is that like Mexico the U.S. is on its way top becoming a failed state.  You can not bankrupt nations for the benefit of the few and expect not to eventually have a civil war.   You can not continue to allow police to brutalize and murder innocents so that the police state agenda can be advanced.

It is a fact that there is no more morality or ethics than there was during the time of Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan.  All that has changed is the organizations that provide legitimacy to those powerful enough to have sovereignty. 

All one need do is consider is all they ways the U.S. carries out or supports genocide and ethnic cleansing that the American media, and hence the American public, find totally acceptable.  Drug kingpins wish they could control the media in the way the U.S. hides the facts regarding the downing of Flight MH17 after our government tried to begin a global war based on a false flag operation in which the Ukraine government brought down a plane and killed 293 victims in an attempt the start WWIII while falsely blaming Russia.  Or consider how many ISIS killed when deploying chemical weapons in an attempt to manipulate the U.S. into a war with Assad.  And while these slaughters are hidden from Americans as the U.S. government acts as if it did not play a hand in this mayhem, those with the intelligence to think know better.  Kill a couple and steal their money and you are a common thief and murderer.  Kill a hundred people and steal millions and you are a much more socially acceptable human being granted the title of criminal mastermind.  But, if you kill hundreds of thousands and steal the wealth of entire nations, you are then granted the highest place of honor, celebrated and called a great conqueror. 

The fact is that elitist theft through colonialism, imperialism and militarism remain a much bigger problem than anything done by a few drug cartel morons.  The U.S. will send millions off to fight, kill and die and not think a second time about it.  They have just found a more socially acceptable way of engaging in senseless violence.  And, considering the epidemic of police murdering unarmed civilians, one can see that we allow the murder of thousands without batting an eyelash.
