Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd (TGOD) Taps Into CNBC Promo Machine

Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd (TSE:TGOD) (OTCMKTS:TGODF) (FRA:O1GA) received a big boost today—from both an advisory and media standpoint. The company has attracted one of the most recognizable faces on financial television to its corner, giving it a decided edge in the PR game, and perhaps, further access to significant investor inflows.

This morning, TGOD announced the appointment of American businessman, investor, and television personality Tim Seymour to the company’s Advisory Board. He is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Seymour Asset Management (SAM), a wealth management services firm managing money for high net worth client. Prior to SAM, he was the CIO and co-founder of Triogem Asset Management, a global emerging markets long/short hedge fund. Tim also serves as an Advisory Board Member for The Georgetown Wall Street Alliance, InfraCap ETFs, TradingGene, and Tikun Olam USA.

While Tim Seymour’s capital market Rolodex is expansive, thus giving TGOD a potential source of additional capital investment impetus, Seymour’s media work is attracting the most attention. For over ten years, Tim has been a contributor on CNBC‘s Fast Money—the very public face of the network’s short term trader community. In the last few months, the network has increased its cannabis coverage and now regularly reports on the sector. TGOD itself was the focus of a Keynote Interview by CNBC pitchman Jim Cramer aired on September 14th; and more recently, TGOD CEO Brian Athaide appeared on a segment of Power Lunch to discuss the fundamentals fueling the company’s growth.

However, it is the promise of future Fast Money appearances which should have investors brimming with excitement. This CNBC segment—which airs at 5:00 pm EST weekdays—is the pre-eminent home of latent momentum money just waiting to enter the market. It’s not uncommon for mentioned stocks to experience double-digit price gains in the after hours market; momentum which frequently carries over to the next day. While TGOD doesn’t have a major U.S. listing yet, favorable promos will likely provide strong impetus for its TSX session open up north.

Commenting on the acquisition to its Advisory Board, Brian Athaide all but confirmed Tim Seymour’s new dual mandate of media promotion and capital procurement. “Tim is one of the most recognizable finance professionals in America and we are thrilled to have him join our team,” stated the TGOD CEO. “Working with Tim and his established network of investors will be invaluable as we continue to build the largest organic cannabis brand in the world.” Part of the aforementioned mandate will include advising TGOD on global finance strategies, including a US listing.

The Green Organic Dutchman Holdings CEO Brian Athaide shares the company’s seed-to-sale vertical integration strategy

In spite of Green Organic Dutchman Holdings lackluster price action today (↓$0.12, $8.13/share, (↓1.45%), the appointment is a really nice play for the company. TGOD joins a growing trend of high-profile appointees within the sector to help broaden investment and public relations appeal. In July, small cap LATAM cannabis operation Khiron Life Sciences Corp. appointed former Mexican president Vincete Fox to its Board, while soon-to-be public company Acreage Holdings Inc. named U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner and former Governor of the State of Massachusetts Bill Weld to its Board of Advisors in April.

While Tim Seymour doesn’t have that type of political clout, he has perhaps something better: the eyes and ears of the North American fast money momentum crowd. Such messaging has the potential to shape investor sentiment and provide the spark which gets price action rolling. Often, this momentum feeds on itself as technical breaks are triggered and additional propulsion money enters the fray. Only a select few in the industry have the power to create this type of snowball—one being Mr. Tim Seymour himself.

And now, he’s on TGOD’s side of the ledger.
