A butanding (whale shark) was found dead in Camarines Sur on Sunday morning.
The female whale shark was swept ashore in Sitio Maligaya in Barangay Sabang, Calabanga town. It was 4.6 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 5 (BFAR-5)

Authorities said the whale shark may have died after colliding with a vessel.
Authorities decided to immediately bury the whale shark, considered the largest extant fish species.
