I Am Proud Of Putin for Taking Revenge on Israel, Says Gen. Makarov
Chief of the armed forces General Staff, Gen. Nikolai Makarov, in an interview analyzed the status of Russia in the international arena.
He praised Putin for his efforts in the post-Soviet period to promote Russia’s position in the international arena and added that Putin is a great man with great aspirations for Russia, and Russia, having a leader like him, can take its real place just like that of the Soviet Union back.
When Gen. Makarov was the chief of the armed forces General Staff between 2008 and 2012, he said that the military reforms that began in 2008 have contributed to the professionalization and further agility of Russia’s military forces.
Addressing Russia’s constructive role in the Syrian crisis, Makarov criticized Israel’s hostile actions and said that Russia would destroy any obstacle to its national interests and I am proud of Putin for taking revenge on Israel for Russian troops. He said that the Kornet missile which Hamas fired on an Israeli soldier’s bus was in retaliation for a conspiracy by which the Russian military aircraft fell in September and 15 Russian servicemen were killed.
Makarov said we are aware of the Israeli military and intelligence assistance to Ukraine. We know that in recent days, 47 prominent Israeli military and security members have entered Ukraine and are plotting against the Russians. We will carefully monitor these actions and respond to them at the right time.
At the end of his interview, Gen. Makarov said Israel-Russia relations have been mutually respectful, but Tel Aviv’s commitments to Washington should not lead to Israel’s hostility with Russia because we do not ignore our interests. Israeli officials must be aware that they cannot resist Russia’s fury and they should always be considerate and respectful before Moscow.
