Did the Raptor Fans Cheering of Kevin Durant’s Injury Inspire the Warriors Comeback?

Kevin Durant went down in a heap with what appeared to be a torn Achilles on Monday night in game five of the NBA Finals in Toronto.

The injury was shocking and stunning in the least, but what happened next made many upset.

Raptors fans took to cheering, knowing what Durant means for Toronto’s chances of winning the franchise’s first title.

Instead, the Warriors rallied, scoring nine points after being down three in the final 2:09, and now will force a game six back in Oakland on Thursday.

The question is – did the Raptor fans incite the Warriors to rally behind their fallen teammate?

“That’s crazy. That’s crazy,” Golden State’s Draymond Green said of the crowd’s initial response. “Come on … that’s classless. For me, I’ve always witnessed Canadians being the nicest people that I’ve ever encountered.

“That was classless.”

It remains to be seen if the Warriors can duplicate what was done to them back a few seasons ago when they blew a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In order to make history to win their third straight title, they are going to have to do it without Durant, who is going to miss possibly all of next season once the MRI states what many already think about the injury.

For now, it could be the fault of the Raptor fans that they pushed just a little too hard, and may now have to watch their team fold after jeering as Durant left the court.
