I visit few internet UFO web-sites and blogs because they are rife with ads.
If someone is offering writings about a topic, let that topic be free of interruptions
in the form of advertising(s): Tampons, VitaCoffee, Gas-X, and other fringe products.
Are UFO writers so poor or so desirous of a few pennies that they have to resort to plumbing the dregs of capitalistic enterprise where companies and businesses forage for customers to the detriment of smooth, coherent discourse?
Advertising has taken over the world, and I hear few people complaining, accepting the scourge as if it is as necessary as oxygen.
To have a UFO site is one thing. To have a UFO site replete with god-awful sales pitches should be anathema.
One reason I sneaked away from Frank Warren’s UFO Chronicles is his intemperate (but seeming need for a few cents each month to survive) use of every kind of ad imaginable.
His content isn’t so valuable or interesting that one will put up with or accept the surfeit of ads Frank subjects his visitors to.
Mysterious Universe has terrific pieces by some UFO notables, but ads interspersed throughout each article are offputting to anyone with a semblance of good taste and appreciation of intelligent subject matter.
Again, if a web-site, blog, or some other venue forces a user to insert advertising, let that user move on to a place where ads are verboten.
Kevin Randle eschews ads in his content, as does The Anomalist, placing ads in the margins, where they can be found if someone is insistent upon being manipulated by a god-damn business enterprise sucking the life and money out of visitors to a desired reading area.
Some capitalist habits have become ubiquitous to the point of overwhelming hate by some of us; advertising is one such “habit.”
