Syrian Call on Hezbollah to Secure Chemical Weapons Would Be Slap to Obama

Iranian Intervention Needed to Prevent Syrian WMD Disaster

Assad has every reason to seek the support of Hezbollah or Iran in ensuring his chemical weapons stockpiles are secured.  While his forces can perform such a task, you cannot win a war by merely standing guard across the entire country and securing critical facilities.

Through the U.S. Army’s War College, a report has been written that denies Hezbollah is a terrorist group.  The paper identifies Hezbollah as a very disciplined and well-trained defensive fighting force that comprises probably the fifth best military in the Middle East.  That Hezbollah is identified as a terrorist organization merely demonstrates the extent to which American politicians must pay homage to the Zionist-dominated political establishment and corrupt a US political process.  But, it is assured that Syria could count Hezbollah as an ally and Hezbollah has the ability to secure Assad’s chemical weapons.  If Assad were to do this, the US would go berserk. Moreover, it would show Assad is serious about securing WMDs and it would prove Hezbollah a legitimate military force while only involving them in a very peripheral manner.  Such a situation would provide Assad with a combat multiplier and help tip the scales towards the Syrian government.

Hezbollah has proven its legitimacy as a force for stability and deterrence and has not engaged in the al Qaeda-type of massacres that occurred in Libya and now are occurring in Syria.  Therefore, it is ironic that no mention is made of the anti-Assad terrorist forces’ tactics of fighting and hiding amongst the civilian population.  These al Qaeda forces are non-uniformed irregular forces operating without any chain of command and being entirely supported by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, NATO and the US. There is nothing that says these well-equipped and well-funded armed forces cannot mass enough firepower to gain temporary superiority at one location for sufficient time to capture and remove chemical weapons.  If such a scenario occurred, these weapons would inevitably end up in the hands of al Qaeda given the identity and the nature of what comprises the insurgency.

Given the outside support and foreign nature of the insurgency, it would be absurd and unrealistic for the US to demand Assad not to rely on allies to support what is an established and sovereign government.  While the US may now seek to portray Assad as this US intervention’s current Hitler, it was less than two years ago that the US had relations with Syria to the extent that is had contacts with other Arab and Muslim countries.  As an internationally recognized sovereign government’s head of state, Assad must be responsible to take any and all actions he deems necessary to keep WMDs from falling into the hands of terrorists, -the very terrorists the US and its allies are now supporting.

When George Bush described himself as “The Decider” while propagandizing Americans to have them believe they faced dangers from Saddam of the type that the US is currently fomenting against the government of Syria, the US military was given marching orders to attack, invade, and occupy Muslims nations that not only had nothing to do with 9/11, but were actually the enemies of bin Laden, al Qaeda, Sunni extremism and the a Saudi regime that fuels such radicalism.  We now know Bush lied about WMDs and the US policy was centered around regime change that began with information operations directed against the American people and furthered by Zionist owners, a corporate-dominated media and mouthpieces for the military-industrial complex.

So, it should not be viewed as a provocation for Syria to seek assistance from its allies, be they Hezbollah, Iran or Russia.  It is Assad’s right and duty to do whatever is necessary to prevent what will be a much worse situation were the forces seeking to destroy Syria gain control.  Since when does a nation’s leaders calling on their allies to assist them against a foreign-sponsored and manned invasion constitute a provocation?

Syria surrendered concessions to Sunnis Syrians seeking redress, and Assad gave every indication he would meet their demands at the very time outside actors decided to increase the intensity of violence directed against the Syrian government.  Does anyone actually believe Assad could now negotiate with al Qaeda extremists being sent from and funded by Saudi Arabia?  It is obvious to the world that the rapid escalation in violence was perpetrated by Black Ops entities to prevent the implementation of measures that would have created a negotiated political settlement.  Simply put, peace is not in the US government’s interest.  As George Bush began bombing Iraq to prevent UN weapons inspectors from telling the UN that Saddam had no WMDs, so the US and its allies escalated the violence in Syria to prevent the truth from being acknowledged by the international community that the US and its allies desire an unsolvable quagmire.  It was US strategy to begin full-blown intervention via Islamic militants in Syria to prevent the truth from being acknowledged that clearly shows that 95% of the Syrian people support the cessation of hostilities and an ending of the uprising.  If anyone thought the US was actually interested in a negotiated settlement, one need only look to see what actions have been taken against the Palestinians by the US and Israel to do whatever is necessary to prevent a negotiated settlement, or consider the chances of Assad conducting meaningful political dialog with al Qaeda.

It is clear that by the acts of the CIA and the US political establishment with regard to their clandestine support for Saudi and Israeli objectives of destabilizing and dividing Syria, ample proof has been provided to demonstrate that the Global War on Terror was nothing more than a fixing the “facts” for propaganda purposes.  This propaganda is distributed via a complaint Western-dominated media apparatus designed to support an interventionist US foreign policy.  This foreign policy is a policy whereby the US constantly seeks fabricated or manipulated excuses for more US interventions and crimes in countries that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11.  And, as in the case of Iran and Syria, both are nations that have completely denounced al Qaeda and were a sworn enemies of bin Laden.

The rest of the world can and does act as if it believes that the US demands for a unilateral surrender by the Syrian government is a legitimate course of action, but US pronouncements that demand an end of the violence while arming foreign insurgents and terrorists shows that there is no negotiating room for Assad, nor is there a credible entity with which he can negotiate. What the US government malefactors do not realize is that the exploitation of such a situation merely harms the credibility and legitimacy of the US.

Turkey has seen its plans of intervention turn into a de facto Kurdish state that will end up causing untold suffering in Turkey and Syria.  Erdogan should be impeached for his lack of foresightedness when considering the effects of his support for the destabilization of the Syrian state.  Erdogan’s meddling was not in the interests of the Turkish people.  However, one would be lying in stating Erdogan did not have other ill-conceived reasons for pandering to NATO and the US after the Israeli execution of his fellow citizens serving as humanitarian aid workers on the open sea and the refusal of the US or NATO as alliance partners to lodge a complaint against or punish Israel in any way whatsoever, even in a way that could be perceived merely as symbolic.

Therefore, the Syrian war will come down to a proxy war with the winner being determined by an old US military adage that states the ability to win a war usually belongs to whomever is willing to get there “firstest with the mostest”.  It is clear that as the Turkish intervention in Syria was not in the Turkish peoples’ interests, so to is it not in the interests of the American people for their government to intervene in Syria.  This is not an issue of democracy.  Since when has al Qaeda shown itself to value inclusive democracy?  As usual, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and Joe Lieberman lead the cheers for intervention in an attempt to get support for involvement that would lead to war with Iran, but the American people are waking up to the Three Stooges’ constant calls for the US to be manipulated into Wilsonian involvements.

If every there was a situation that could only be made worse by foreign bellicose involvement, Syria is it.  The UN has shown itself to be incapable of establishing the kind of stability needed to assist in peaceful political transition, and in what is clearly a slap in the face of the US, its leadership acknowledges that by siding with the US it would have engaged in what is a completely flawed and broken process antithetical to peace, and thusly failed its core mission.

This is one situation in which moral hazard prevents the US from having to negotiate in good-faith.  It appears the US is perfectly willing to create insurmountable obstacles and sit by and watch the spectacle of destruction. Maybe it is time for credible forces like Russia and Iran to solve the Syrian crisis since the US refuses to act responsibly.

I’m not so sure that Hezbollah would agree to this. Sure, they are allies with Assad and Syria, but Hezbollah has to be careful of their battles. The last thing they want to do is lose support among the people. I’m not sure if a role securing Syrian Chemical weapons would turn the rebels against Hezbollah, but it might if it is construed as a more active role in the civil war. Remember, anti-Assad forces are not limited to Al Qaeda, or even Sunni Muslims, so Hezbollah has to walk a fine line here.

They are much more than just allies. Their funding, training and arsenal comes from Iran through Syria. While Hezbollah has shown a great deal of autonomy, they still can be forced into a situation they would rather not be in.

As far as Lebanon’s Sunni population, they have not really gone to wholly supporting the insurgents. Also, Hezbollah enjoys overwhelming support of Syrian Sunnis even though Israel smashed Beirut. Iran helped pay money for the damage and the Lebanese were able to see the IDF go into full retreat on the battlefield. This could have never been accomplished by the Lebanese Army.

Besides, Nasrallah could always argue that Hezbollah is securing it for the same reason the US wants it secured, mainly to keep it from falling into the hands of al Qaeda wackjobs.
