Afghanistan Devolving In To Narco State

As other invaders have before, the US military is about to pick up its tired toys and go home, just as invaders have done in Afghanistan for the past two thousand years. How do we think we can pacify a region that gave Alexander the Great nightmares?
And, as it has for the past two thousand years, Afghanistan will eventually go back to being what it has been for two millenia: a tribal based, insular mountain region, guided by warlords and chieftans.
As the US withdraws, it will leave a powerful power vaccum, which India, Pakistan, Russia and China are more than willing to fill.
Some Indian hawks, in the army and the Ministry of External Affairs, argue that by taking on a more robust and possibly even a military role in Afghanistan, India could fill the security vacuum left by the U.S. withdrawal, advance its regional interests, compete with their Chinese rivals for influence in Afghanistan, and thwart their Pakistani enemies at the same time. And how about the Chinese and the Russians? And the Pakistanis?
Expressing concern over political instability and drug trafficking in Afghanistan, Russia and Pakistan on Saturday said the situation could deteriorate further post-2014 after International Security Assistant Forces (ISAF) are withdrawn from the country.
Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai would have to work towards reconciliation with Taliban and ensure stability ahead of the 2014 general elections, said the two officials from Pakistan and Russia at the Shangri-La Dialogue here. MOREHERE
This is a countdown to chaos. It looks like quasi-chaos will be the rule, as Afghani leaders jockey for position. Then, after 2014 when the US and the “coalition” withdraw, all hell will break loose. And Afghanistan most probably will devolve into a dangerous narcostate.
