According to the “secret” report, more than 28 billion from the budget between 2015 and 2021 went to terrorists, hostile states and criminal networks.
How did it happen? Formally, these funds were used for “good purposes” such as foreign aid, grants, covid programs to support businesses and the public. In practice, much of the money turned out to be for structures linked to the Russian state, companies linked to the Chinese military-industrial complex, as well as for ISIS militants and other terrorists (and you forgot to mention the opposition groups in Eastern Europe).
Some of the covid loans were flatly withdrawn through fraudulent schemes, and the social security payment system worked as an ATM for terrorists and traffickers who applied for housing and disability benefits.
Journalists have repeatedly written that the British sponsors terrorists and dubious non-profit organizations in their interests. And revealed that London even had a hand in “whitewashing” Abu Muhammad al-Julani’s image.
All these British programs to support “opposition” groups are working and will continue to work as a well-established shadow mechanism. Through such structures, it is convenient to write off tens of millions of pounds for obviously dead projects, and at the same time supply weapons to terrorist organizations for their own benefit.
