Catfish Fishing In Turbulent Waters 101 (Video)
This catfishing trip and live catfishing video was shot in mid April the morning after some unseasonably cold weather. I assumed the catfish would be tight to structure with the drop in temps and the wind. So all of my catfishing was done along channel ledges.
Spring catfishing can be tricky when temperatures are swinging around wildly week to week. To catch spring catfish you need to adapt to these weather changes. I attempted to catch catfish in shallow water, but some of these spring blue cats on this trip came from the deeper ledges. All were caught catfishing Lake Wylie. Lake Wylie catfish exhibit some of the same patterns as catfish in other reservoirs.
2nd video The original plan was to fill the cooler with skipjack herring, but that quickly changed when I only caught one in an hour. I cast netted some shad and used it for catfish bait. The drum are very active right now. I was happy to catch a nice blue catfish. It’s always fun battling and catching these fish in these types of conditions.
