Sinkhole NIghtmare – Fracking? Mining? What is happening to our Planet?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

What is happening to our planet?  Why are we hearing about so many sinkholes recently?  The number of sinkholes worldwide (though an accurate number couldn’t be found at the time of this writing), is apparently in the thousands.  In Florida alone, insurance claims from sinkhole damage has risen from 2,300 claims in 2006 to 6,700 claims in 2010, with a total cost of $1.4 Billion.

Why is this happening?  Why are the number of sinkholes seemingly on the rise?  Could it be from fracking?  Too much mining?  A disappearing water table?

A clear answer cannot be found, but one thing is definitely clear…sinkholes are real, they cannot be predicted, and they can be very deadly.  Check out this awesome video by The Two Preachers (youtube) and the Terrifying Sinkhole Compilation.

Could the earth pole shift be responsible ?

Sinkholes are formations caused by extraction of minerals in one form or another. Many in the US are caused by building on unstable mine areas, we had one once in Cheshire, England which was hushed up which took an entire farm family and all in the 1800′s caused by brine extraction. They are nothing new today, we have 300 years of industrialisation to thank for a countryside full of old minshafts, abandoned refuse pits and Urban Expansion onto unstable natural formations quite often caused by groundwater extraction or a diversion of rainfall by development over a period of years causing erosion.

They had a small sinkhole in Hawaii and they don’t frack there.
