Tropical Storm Cindy Path Update: Live Storm Track, Latest Path, Weather Forecast, Maps
Tropical Storm Cindy may have been downgraded to a tropical depression but it is still battering the Gulf Coast and Deep South of the US. The latest storm track and path maps show that the eye of the storm is now moving across Louisiana towards Arkansas.

Noon CDT: A few tornadoes are possible through tonight from the lower Mississippi and Tennessee Valley regions to the central Gulf Coast, according to the NHC.
11am CDT: Cindy has now been downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression. Despite Cindy weakening, heavy rains and flooding continue.
10am CDT: Cindy was located about 165 miles northwest of Morgan City in Louisiana.
But the NHC said the Tropical Storm Warning from High Island Texas to Morgan City Louisiana has been discontinued.
The latest update said: “On the forecast track, Cindy or its remnants will move into southeastern Arkansas early Friday, and into Tennessee later on Friday.”
Heavy rainfall is forecast in parts of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle through Friday morning.
The NHC added: “This rainfall could cause life-threatening flash flooding in these areas.
“Heavy rainfall will expand across the Tennessee and Ohio valleys today and across the central Appalachians Friday into Saturday.”
9am CDT The NHC warns a few tornadoes are possible tonight from the far western Florida Panhandle across southwestern Alabama, southern Mississippi, and southern Louisia
7.50am A Tropical Storm Warning is still in effect for High Island Texas to Morgan City Louisiana.
7.30am CDT Tropical Storm Cindy has been blamed for the death of a 10-year-old boy who was killed by a large log washed on to beach in Alabama.
The extreme weather is causing dangerous flash floods and storm surge as strong gales push up the level of the sea along the Gulf Coast.

6am: The latest Met Office storm tracker map shows that the eye of storm hitting Louisiana near the Texas border.
The map shows the storm looks set to move across Louisiana and Arkansas before heading in the direction of Washington DC. The storm will lose strength as it crosses land.
4am CDT: Topical Storm Cindy has now made landfall in southwestern Louisiana and is expected to weaken as it passes across the US over the next 48 hours.
The NHC located Cindy about 30 miles (45 km) west-southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour (65 km/h).

The hurricane centre, based in Florida, said: ”On the forecast track, the center will move into southeastern Arkansas early Friday, and into Tennessee later on Friday.”
The storm is expected to weaken into a tropical depression later today.
4.20am CDT Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency urging those in the storm’s path to “prepare for the worst while praying for the best”.
The storm is already causing chaos and power cuts in many areas such as Galveston, Texas, where residents have been evacuated.

4.10am CDT The danger of life-threatening flash flooding is the biggest worry along the Gulf Coast all the way from Texas and Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle.
Meanwhile of 3 to 5 inches, with isolated maximum levels of 7 inches, are expected across western Louisiana and eastern Texas as the storm moves inland.
Rainfall will then spread northeastward across Arkansas and into portions of the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys through Friday..

2am CDT: The eye of the storm is set to move inland near the Louisiana-Texas border this morning as heavy rainfall batters the northern Gulf Coast.
The US National Hurricane Center NHC said Cindy is located about 50 miles (85 Km) south-southeast of Port Arthur, Texas with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kmh).
The NHC said: “On the forecast track, the center of Cindy will move inland near the Louisiana-Texas border later this morning, then move across western and northern Louisiana and into southeastern Arkansas tonight and early Friday.”
Midnight CDT: Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency urging those in the storm’s path to “prepare for the worst while praying for the best”.
He said: “All arms of the state’s emergency preparedness and response apparatus are taking Tropical Storm Cindy seriously, and we are calling on all Louisianans throughout the state to do so as well.”
