Protecting computers and hidden data

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

There is no doubt about the fact that people are sitting behind desks figuring out new and innovative ways to destroy our computer networks and to hack into our hidden data. A new report in the “International Journal of Internet Technology and Secured Interactions” caught my eye.

They suggested a new approach to hide data and protect the computer using a new form of security through obscurity. This new approach called ‘steganography.’ A traditional paper watermark is the perfect example for this. You paint a coded message into a portrait.

Another easy way is to hide data within executable computer program files. This would make it impossible to detect hidden documents. At first glance, there would be nothing more than an executable file (exe.)

Those who want to hide very important documents can embed data in many different files like music (mp3), images (jpeg), or word processing files. However, there is a size limit to all this. You cannot expect people to ignore a simple picture file that is way above its average size.

Also, we all ignore the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) system at the very start of the booting process. We can’t expect anything to be well protected in a PC without ensuring its firmware and foundation. BIOS updates must be installed accordingly.

All users who usually visit the internet and use computers common to all household must ensure that there is enough security to protect against virus attacks.
