If we were to send up a probe to monitor lets say Mars we would give it an orbit around Mars
not an Orbit that returns the Probe every 25 years.

Well, if theres any truth to this story, you can track a space objects course by its trajectory and current movement through space. If the object was observed traveling a certain speed while following a course that would lead it to get pulled near earth again, you can tell when it would return.
The same way we know when Halley’s Comet and Hale–Bopp will come around again.
True, but when we send a probe or satellite to Mars we aren’t worried about anyone seeing it.
Not to mention, who knows if its actually a probe, could be anything. Alien hibernation chamber, weapon, alien port-a-potty.
I’m pretty sure they’re implying not a naturally made object like a comet or meteor.
